I compared some of the pics I took alongside my phone (the stock cam nearly put me to shame so I used gcam) and there was little to no difference in some shots but selfie iPhone beat mine, gcam and stock.

It's possible with a DSLR.

But don't kid yourself, professionals with DSLR still edit their photos.

This is because despite HDR and AWB, the camera still cannot perceive light and colour the way the rods and the cones in the human eyes can.
