N-power Beneficiaries Lament Under New Ministry, Want Osinbajo To Takeover by Lifted2000: 8:37am On Feb 18, 2020
Beneficiaries of N-Power, a National Social Investment Programme have lamented the bad treatment that they receive since the scheme was taken from the Office of the Vice President to anew ministry, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development.

Many of the beneficiaries have lamented that the Minister have been incompetent especially when it comes to paying their stipends which they got regularly and on time when Vice President Yemi Osinbajo oversaw the programme.

Many them blamed the Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, for refusing to communicate the reasons why their stipends have been delayed.

The Minister has also been blamed for failing to handle other schemes under NSIPs including the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme which all sailed smoothly under VIce President Yemi Osinbajo.

For these reasons, they called that the programme be returned under the Office of the Vice President where everything worked very smoothly.

See their responses below:

In fact, thousands of Npowers are complaining seriously about their unpaid stipend which was unstable now unlike when VP osinbajo was handling it

Chai if this true, then the honourable minister need to address this and make corrections asap. I remember when the vice president was in charge, we have alot of testimony and here is one....

Nwanjel Alfred: One of the N-power beneficiaries Nwanjel Alfred who was posted to Nomadic Primary school in Plateau State as a teacher under the Npower graduate scheme said I am a graduate in 2011, studied Biology Education, did my NYSC in 2012, but have no job for five years and I have passion agriculture.

I have no money to start up my Agric project, but when I became a beneficiary to the N-Power scheme and receive my December 2016 stipend, I then ventured into my passion agriculture. Now I have cultivate 15 bags of Irish Potatoes seedlings and hopefully by July I would be harvesting 50 bags of Irish Potatoes.

Though moving the scheme to the ministry is a welcome development and it will pave way for the continuity of the scheme but the minister need to consult the office of the vice president to understand the scheme more as the beneficiaries can't continue lamenting all the time.

Mediocrity can't be hid just as consistent excellence cannot be mistaken for fluke. As for all those who were doubting, I guess you now have proof that the office of VP Osinbajo is no longer supervising the NSIPs

The reason why the scheme was taken to the Ministry is to make is a going concern towards reducing the plight of unemployment in Nigeria. If it's still in OVP, the forthcoming tenure might cancel it as we have had the likes of Sure P in the past.

To all the beneficiaries, your pain is felt and you need to exercise a lil bit of perseverance. The ministry is just staring the scheme and yet to stand firm so this kind of delay is necessary.
Using this medium to appeal to Umar farouq to seek VP's consultation on how to have a smooth sailing of the programme so as to continue the VP's solid foundation of the scheme.

The best thing for Umar Farouq is to meet VP osinbajo and ask how he was operating it successfully while under him

This is the problem of most Nigerians. When they're benefitting from something, they'll still find means to niggle about it, those that are yet to benefit would drag it down & call it a scam. Finally when there's a review & it turns out worse, they will start a new depth of crying... who can save us?
Osinbajo was called several derogatory names for supervising the NSIPs & making sure it went well. But today, the programs have been moved under a new minister & it doesn't seem as before again, now there's the call for Osinbajo to take it back!

Look at Prof Osinbajo touching ground to monitor the way the monies are being disbursed & spent, entering market & not shying away from pupils classes. So who has seen the new minister on monitoring engagements like this?
SHAME on everyone that called this man names for doing the right thing for the defenseless!

Their is wide gap between inborn capacity and that of academics procurement. Osinbajo was born to solve problems without stress that was why N-power beneficiaries and the scheme was well managed when it was under VP.
