Couple Arrested By Police For Buying 10-Yr-Old Girl For N800,000 by NwekeUG(op): 3:12pm On Feb 24, 2020
IgbereTV reports that officers of the Anambra State Police Command has reportedly arrested a couple for allegedly buying a stolen 10-year old girl, Favour Asuqwo, in Onitsha, Anambra State and changing her name to Faith Ezeukwu. The victim is suspected to have been stolen from Akwa Ibom since 2018 sold to the suspects for N800,000.

The police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, said: “Anyone with useful information about the rescued child should report at the 33 Police Station Onitsha or contact PPRO Anambra State Police Command headquarters, Awka to enable the victim’s biological parents or close relatives identify her.”

Not only arresting both the faith Ezeukwu and her husband should be sent to jail and allowed to rot there.

You spent so much money to buy a child, then why not adopt the baby legally from motherless babies home.......

What I don't understand is this, with all the legal ways to adopt a child even at a lesser cost some persons will still go behind to illegally pay hire to buy a stolen or kidnapped child....

Anambra state Government should rise and end this menace

Rubbish

Well, this shows how bad the couple needs a child.
They should be freed and shown the way to a motherless children's home for ADOPTION.

Moreover, the child stayed with them for two years and was not maltreated. Alas the child was gotten through crooked means.

God bless Nigeria.

The couple already have children. I think they wanted to use her as house girl . I've heard of other cases of kidnaps in Uruan local government ,Nsit ibom local government ,Eket local government and Okobo local government around 2016 . Sometimes the victims relation are even part of the criminal ring who promise to enroll them in school or give them job in Lagos. The government really needs to do something about this .

ONE bullet to the back of the head, no questions asked.... but if they name the evil people who sold that child to them, they should all be flogged in public 1st and then ONE bullet to the back of the head to all of them!

The problem is that most of these parents do these things thinking they're legit only for the whole process to come collapsing later...
I've seen a case of a person that adopted a baby from an ophanage only to be arrested later for buying a stolen baby. Government should regulate the activities of these homes and police report should be a must before you can complete the process.
