Whatever you like say

But number 1 automaker in the world is
Toyota

You talk about quality
Quality may mean different thing to a customer
It's a customer that determines the quality he expects
That's where customer satisfaction icomes to play
But for millions of Toyota's customers purchasing there products worldwide
Yes it's quality to them
As long as there wants are satisfied

The results/patronage speaks for itself
Well the customers have spoken and over the years Benz has maintained quality nor quantity

Benz is a luxury and a niche market
Toyota is a mass market

You're making a mistake.
Durability= Mercedes Benz (non debatable)
Reliability= Toyota (very debatable)
No you are the one making a mistake.

Reliability and durability are sides of the same coin. They both use same parameters of measure just that emphasis is different.

I rarely engage in preposterous banters on the use of words.... I'll strongly advise you to check all known sources of English language words to you before engaging with me.

So between Toyota and Mercedes who is with more customers?

Toyota of course
Numbers don't lie

Toyota plays in all the segment and they are still ahead of the pack
Even within the luxury niche
Via Lexus
And Lexus is doing exceptionally well globally

You think to be number 1 na beans
It takes sound excellent strategy to no 1

So because Toyota has more customers (quantity) you are missing it for niche (quality)

Mind you Lexus is a rebagged Toyota ...

Are you saying that Toyota is greater than
Benz
Bentley
Range Rover
Aston Martin
BMW
Rolls Royce

Wonders shall never end...nothing person no go see for nairaland

All those cars you mentioned, how many customers patronize there products compared to Toyota around the world.

How many of them are profitable ventures?

For example Range Rover and Rolls Royce the Brit's couldn't maintain there business unit and they sold them off to Tata motors of India.

You can call Lexus rebagaded Toyota, but they are doing extremely well in the luxury markets around the world.

Like I said to be no 1 it requires sound excellent strategy

You are making a mistake. Read what I wrote again and try to understand. Quality does not mean luxury anywhere.

A sofa made of leather appears luxurious but if the cage and other supports inside the sofa are made of poor materials and workmanship, it will not last long. In this sense, it is not going to be relied on to last for 10-20 years. It is not reliable.

A sofa made of cloth appears to be plain and of course not luxurious but if the cloth, support cage, and workmanship is of high quality, it will last the owner for ages.

I hope this simple submission is clear enough.

Quality is not luxury.

However

But I would take Toyota serious wig their kiosk when they win the highest competition in cars which is Formula 1 racing
That's not what I am here for. It's good to banter and all that, but it should be done with some level of intelligence.
I was only trying to point out the wrong assumption that quality is luxury.

I don't care who is a better or bigger company between Toyoda and Mercedes. The shareholders don't give a rats arse what anyone here thinks.

Someone will walk into a Toyota dealership tomorrow and buy a brand new Toyota. Same thing goes with Mercedes.
People will buy what they want, need and can afford or can't afford. It's their problem.

“If I’m just buying a car for convenience and basics, I’ll go for a Toyota or any cheaper but a solid brand. If I’m buying a luxury car and a renowned car, I’m going German and the other luxury brands”.

I am done
Re: Is Toyota A Better Company Than Mercedes? by ivoryhouse(m): 3:42pm On Mar 02, 2020
This is car talk so people will have differing preferences when it comes to car brands, like pretty much all else in life. I'm neither a Mercedes nor Toyota fan but there are certain cars manufactured by both I would own. Toyota's Tundra '09, Toyota Land cruiser 2004-2008, and the Lexus ISF are great. For the benz, it's their GT (the one with gull wing doors) that I like.
What I find rather disturbing on this forum, is the lack of decorum, especially in the way we address each other. Guys, really, it's possible to share your views without calling others names. It's the abuse that keeps a lot of people off the comments section. If we want this forum to be much fun, we must try and be more civil in all we say.

Re: Is Toyota A Better Company Than Mercedes? by EgunMogaji2:
As an Autoist, I've owned both brands, both new and used.

In memory are my various Toyota MR2 (MK1 and MK2) and my Mercedes 190e (2.3 and 2.6) as well as Mercedes Benz C230 Kompressor and C43.

Both manufacturers offer leading edge vehicles to a budget. One is not better than the other.

My opinion.

Toyota and Benz are two different things. If you’re looking for a cheap car that can take you frm point A to point B then Toyota is for you, but if you’re looking for classic and sophisticated car then it is Mercedes-Benz. So it depends on what you want and your class. The fact that Toyota sells more cars doesn’t make it the best car, don’t forget that cheap things sells more because it’s for middle and low class people. Benz is not for everybody. Thanks!

the question is not whether toyota(excluding century and lexus) cars are the best cars. The question is whether toyota “as a company” is a better company. And the answer is a resounding YES.

Obviously, the toyota company doesn’t make (ordinary) toyota cars to compete with mercedes. They make lexus to compete in that category of the market.

Whether we like it or not, toyota is the number 1 auto company in the entire globe. They are the market leaders, they compete in every segment and they do well in all the segments they compete in. They (toyota/lexus) are the most consumed brand(cheap or expensive) in the whole world FOR A REASON. The reason behind it is that, THEY DO THE BEST BUSINESS OF PRODUCT AVAILABILITY AND CONSUMER SATISFACTION.

They (toyota company) are the best in the business. Consumers of toyota products (toyota/ lexus/scion/ century) have only good tales to tell about what they use. And Toyota is the only company that can boast of being a gaint in every segment of the auto industry.

For instance:

The yaris is a giant in the entry level segment globally
The corolla is the king in the compact segment globally
The camry is the king of the midsize segment globally
The Avalon is a giant in its segment globally

The hilux/tacoma/tundra brands almost don’t have potent market competitors in the truck segment globally

The hiace/coaster buses are the king of their segments globally.

Lexus cars are giants in the luxury space globally.

Toyota has a stronghold in the entire auto industry. And it is not just by making cars with better value.

IT IS BY UNDERSTANDING THE MARKET, WHAT IT NEEDS, AND ENSURING TO DELIVER IMPECCABLE QUALITY. Regardless of the segment: whether low class/ high class, luxury/mainstream, cheap/ expensive, truck/bus, minivan/cargo van.

There is a reason toyota (as a company) is the number 1 in the world. All the numbers, figures, statistics, indications, suggest that Daimler(Mercedes company) is a nymph besides Toyota.

They do the “best business” in the industry
They are the most widely spread in the industry
They make the most money in the industry
They sell the most units in the industry
They almost “entirely” rule the auto industry.

Volkswagen which is the number 2 auto company is still way ahead of Daimler(Mercedes) in terms of being a better company.
