For those showing fear of Àmòtékùn going rogue, relax. The first thing I will like to say is that, the Omoluabis have done a great job with this. However, we should not forget that Àmòtékùn is a fraction of DAWN (Developmental Agenda for Western NIgeria). That means Àmòtékùnis is not the end in itself. But for tangible development, innovation and investment to stand, security MUST play a pivotal role. Which is what the Westerners are doing. Àmòtékùn must be an icon of what real security should be. As she grows, she she be able to be a pointer to the central police on what safety of people is. DAWN needs to start developing the next phase of Àmòtékùn in terms of technology and what modern policing should be. On the flip side, when Àmòtékùn came, I was expecting the nomads, mostly people of Fulanis extractions to be happy and embrace it; since they have denied the knowledge of those responsible for the Carnage in people's farms. I was taken aback when they were resisting it. Like I use to say, if you are not a criminal, you should have nothing to fear of the Yoruba nation. We are not like the barbaric ones who decapitate people in their Houses, graze on their farms, set their houses ablaze, and sell human beings into slavery in 21st century. Àmòtékùn does not seek to remove Fulanis from SW. We know they don't have land with vegetations and water due to desertification. So send them away is suicidal to them. But we cannot accommodate you to do your business you started constituting criminality. Some semi illiterate youths of northern extraction who launched an emotional security outfit need to start looking at how to rid the north of criminals as SW is trying to do. Either you are a southerner or a northerner, as long as you a criminal, Àmòtékùn is against you.

Good news. The only good news coming out of Nigeria seems to be coming from the West these days. I hope the Amotekun corp will not disappoint us and I hope the Western governors can equally come together to collaborate on more developmental projects like regional power generation and distribution, speed trains connecting major towns in the West, scholarship for Yoruba students all over Africa, Agricultural investments etc... |
