The river shown in the photographs below is Caño Cristales, an amazingly colourful river in Colombia. With the photos here you will believe it’s the most beautiful river in the world.

The river takes on many different colors, including yellow, green, blue, black, but especially red, caused by the weeds at the bottom of the river (Macarenia clavigera).

The river is commonly called “The River of Five Colours”, “The Liquid Rainbow” “The River That Ran Away to Paradise”, and “The very Beautiful among others in the World” due to its striking colours.

That place look more like a death trap

It is really a beautiful river...

very beautiful place in Colombia.... but to get there is a nightmare and there is nothing there to see, apart from "that" river

I guess you have to pass through FARC territory to get there?

Farc are not as dangerous any longer as people may think (even though there was a new group threatening people a few weeks back).... but Caño Cristales in a national park, with restrictions and you need a special guide to get there (some will ask you outrageous fees)... you can only see the river with these colors a few times per year, if you go at the wrong date, you are fukced, and some place really dont look as beautiful as the above pics. after visiting the place, there is nothing more to do in La Macarena.

you are better off going to visit Ciudad Perdida or Parque Tayrona in Colombia
