You may have noticed this or simply ignored it. Many Honda cars have the term “VTEC” indicated on the surface of it’s engine. This means the engine is a Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control engine, VTEC for short. Developed by Honda, it’s an electronic and mechanical system in Honda engines that allows the engine to effectively generate more horsepower.

Variable valve timing (VTEC) technology is an application in engine development that maximizes engine's output power. For example, a 4 cylinder VTEC engine has the ability of producing a V6 power output at the same time managing the consumption of fuel during combustion.

Toyota strategy is simple, you don't need to be so innovative or come up with crazy ideas, just take what works well for others improve it if possible, especially the quality assurance and use it in your own production ... One of the reason they are most reliable car on the planet
