Distinction between academic and professional masters degree

Today, i will be taking us through the difference between professional masters degree and Academic masters degree.

university of Lagos offers both professional masters and academic masters.
Please i need clarification in respect to Master in Criminology. Looking at the fact that the program is not Msc Criminology rather Master in Criminology, can we say it's a proffessional master degree program?

professional masters are work related masters degree, it is only useful in your work environment, most of the professional masters done in unilag are usually on part-time basis. professional master degree can not be used to apply for PHD programs. professional masters offered in university of Lagos are:
