The answer or approach to such question is simple.

Marley and his cohorts represents a counterculture.
Social deviants who want the impressionable to copy their ways as the norm etc.

This is a perfect scholarly question. It only takes a scholar to understand the depth of the context of discourse. It only takes the deep to understand the deep in Theatre Scholarship!

There is a connect between the theatre and the society (The town & The gown) especially in the context of playwriting which is a perfect mirror of the society.

Of course, the Prof just observed a paradigm shift from discourse on irrelevant texts to the currency of the social culture which is necessary in the post-colonial Nigeria and during this fourth industrial revolution.
Absolutely, nothing wrong with this question!
But Oga we didn't study theatre arts with you nah.

if everyone is acting negatively for financial success.who will have a positive impact in the lives of the youths when all the sing about is sex, weed, sexual harassment etc
Everyone cannot be acting negatively in a society.. There's a system failure of social values that negatively influences such value changes in youths that would radically continue to rise till it reaches it's tipping point. He's Echoing the joker's perspective in which people would refuse to be good lil boys in the face corruption and decay and would wish to fight the Fire for fire.. The paradox is that an average marlian is more woke than most average Nigerian youths about the ills of the government, education, religion and social systems... their antisocial behavior is their mode of protest against such ills in the system.

of that is the case you must understand that fire doesn't quench fire.being a bad husband will not change the behaviour of the bad wife..his approach is wrong and will have a fatal effect on the youths

Yes.. But being a bad husband to a supposedly bad wife would spell that there exist a problem in the marriage that needs to be fixed sooner rather than later.

the question is WHO will fix it

We need real models in nigeria.nigerian youths are bereft of good models

Look at the the christien essien of yesterday, onyeka onwenu, sunny ade etc did they have to display bad personae before they succeeded? Did they have to masturbate in public, display nudity in public etc

Honestly, you need 7 Arizona spliffs. You obviously must be getting drunk to just drop such a comment outside the context of discussion with a terribly myopic understanding of a certain plant and the facts around it. You have shut yourself to knowledge and chosen side with ignorance.

the question is WHO will fix it

The foremost question is what needs fixing.. If you approach it from the perspective of who to fix it both parties becomes defensive since at least 1 has to giv up its power in order to be acted on in order to fix. The answer is it's the system that needs fixing not the individual persons and who better to negotiate such than the people voted in power to represent such institutions.

We need real models in nigeria.nigerian youths are bereft of good models.
This is not only a problem in Nigerian. A system of low trust in every authority is radically sweeping across the universe thereby bringing about an increased narcissistic tendencies in societies..everyone is now entitled to search for and choose his own moral compass and ethical guidelines which doesn't contravene the law. Which were initially passed down to the individual from the society

Look at the the christien essien of yesterday, onyeka onwenu, sunny ade etc did they have to display bad personae before they succeeded? Did they have to masturbate in public, display nudity in public etc
This were major entertainers. Appealing to our aesthetic senses for which we are greatful for. But when an artist enters into the realm of polity.. He either has to disguise as a madman or a prophet of perdition. Just think back to fela

if these people ( older generation musicians) succeeded as musicians without drumming vagynaaa, penis, sexx, weed etc in our ears and the society was saner it shows that if these people ( new generation musicians) set themselves as good examples with their influence maybe drug abuse, raape, ritualism etc will go down

Imagine a musician encouraging internet crime and hailing drug couriers,419s and so on and you call that stage personae, how do you expect the youths to inculcate good values.naturally impressionable teenagers will think fraud is the only way to succeed

There's an addage in my town and I'll give you the literal interpretation that says if you destroy another child(REN) to take care of your own, the child you cared for and nurtured to succeed might actually succeed but the one you rode on his back or took advantage of will not allow your own child to enjoy his success even if your child worked hard for it because he succeeded at the expense of another person and that's what we can see today all around us

Then as for the system, who makes the system? Ghosts? Now let me tell you the truth EVERY NIGERIAN,NO EXCEPTION christian, Muslim, atheist, Buddhist, Yoruba, igbo,Hausa etc ARE ALL MAKERS AND INVARIABLY PRODUCTS OF A SYSTEM (good or bad) therefore if a system is good,it's the people,if it's Also bad it's the people.its just like marriage.who makes up the marriage? Is it not the husband and the wife? Who makes the SYSTEM in their marriage? Ghosts? It's them obviously so if their marriage is good,it's them BECAUSE THEY'VE PUT IN THE RIGHT VALUE SYSTEM to make it succeed or work and if it is bad,it is also them..

This thing is a simple matter, when you cook a soup ,whatever you put inside the soup ( Maggi, salt etc) AT THE RIGHT QUANTITY AND THE RIGHT WAY will determine whether the stew will come out tasty and eatable or not

Our system is obviously faulty.the people ( entertainers)) would have made it a lot better or at least bearable through their influence are worsening the situation then all of us are now blaming the system.who is pumping 'kinshati lowo' into the system as opposed to 'omo mi shey rere tieadara o'? You too look at it na

Every word in the jargon you write above further confirms my fears that you are shallow mentally. But it's cool if you don't know since it gives you more opportunities to make a fool of yourself and more opportunities for us to laugh at your stupidity

This should have been a social psychology question... Was reading a C. Wright Mills book today and he expounded on the society-individual paradigm shift, where if there's a system of low trust in the 5 pillars of Cultural development and authority, it would bring about a narrative of individual deviance and narcissistic tendencies. And I think we have reached that stage in our societal underdevelopment.

U don't have to have an appreciation for the marlian gang. To successful gain an understanding of their underlying process.. Heard naira Marley is a first class degree holder.
Underlining processes..lol. they are making a movies of Vilians this days just to make men see into underlining processes.

I thought the " joker" should toggle you in this light . To what end i ask. now we know why the Joker became a sadistic killer. But does that ultimately change the Joker from being a sadistic killer?

Let's say I was quick to judge marley. Apologies.. and his was a sad start. Has that change the fact that he himself has become the vilian he suggest " the system" to be. We are what we are in this world.

Those who took wrong turns faced temptations. Those who made right turns may have also faced similar temptations.

He is what he is now, I don't judge him unto condemnation but unto correction..the institutions of family need protection. The mothers are doing alot. They need our help.

This is still Judging from an individuals perspective.. I appreciate your understanding of underlying processes but I daresay that your prejudice towards having a good end is still not liberal enough. The end in itself is a process that need not been seen as an end in itself. Naira Marley is going to pass the torch of his social indignation to future acolytes and it's going to continue a process until you have a perfect or an authoritarian system of polity (which would even be worse). The correct approach would be to see the entire system as a whole. In which case u see it as a process producing both good and bad pple feedback not just in spite of it's deficiencies, but rather because of those very inefficiencies.
