these young governors should thread carefully, OBAS are the traditional rulers in Yoruba Land and not governors , they are the custodian of our culture and heritage , it is not wise to rubbish tradition because your party won election that place you as the governor in 4 years.
outsiders will not value our traditional rulers if we rubbish our culture.
if fayemi want to dance naked in the market place, he should do so alone.

It is not fake news and that is why I attached the letter he issued to the Obas. The disagreement between Fayemi and the 16 Obas started last year when he was sworn in. He appointed someone who is not qualified as chairman of the state council of traditional and the 16 kings filed a law suit against him. In addition, they stopped attending state functions and traditional council meeting because they claim they cannot attend a meeting that is chaired by the unqualified chairman.

Those close to Fayemi better advise him to desist from this dangerous path. You can remove one ruler and get away with it. But attempting to remove all the top 16 rulers at once is an invitation to chaos. He won’t be able to manage the fallout.
Which dangerous path? Whether the governor remove 1 traditional ruler or 100, what's the difference? The Sanusi removal and subsequent appointment of another has shown is that traditional rulers are appointees of the governor and remain in office to promote the wishes of the governor. Imagine the 16 ekiti traditional rulers refusing the summons of the governor to a meeting, that's insubordination. Fayemi better dethrone all 16 rulers, banish them to a village in Ondo and appoint other rulers who will carry out his exact wishes.

What effrontery? Don't the Obas know that they serve as an appointee of the governor?

Unlike in the north, the process of appointing an Oba in Yorubaland is complicated. The governor cannot appoint kings even though he can dethrone them. Removing the top 16 kings in the state will only lead to complete breakdown of law and order. Trust me, Fayemi won’t want to go that far.

If the governor of Osun State for example appoints Oluwo as chairman of Osun State council of Obas, do you think the Ooni of Ife will attend the council of Obas meeting where Oluwo is presiding? That’s the scenario that is playing out in Ekiti.

You are taking about a hypothetical scenario. We are talking about the constitution and the laws governing the appointment, role and duties of traditional rulers in Nigeria. Nigerian laws give governors absolute authority over traditional rulers. Yes, most governors have refused to use these powers in the past, but Ganduje has shown that he can exercise that power and damn the consequences. What can the Ooni do if Oyetola appoints Oluwo as chairman of Osun State council of Obas? Can the Ooni decline an order of the governor? What remedy can the Ooni take if the governor depose the Ooni, banish him and appoint someone else, according to the Nigerian constitution? Then this leads to a more fundamental question; what are the role of traditional rulers in the Nigerian constitution?
