I have heard/seen officers die in battle.Lieutenants,captains,colonels,even major generals,they all go to battle.

Commandants are usually officers,officers commanding(OC) for each bases are usually officers and they experience various degrees of attacks. Being an officer doesn't mean you won't go to battle.

Go to NDA,have PhD, once you're an army personnel(male mostly),you're mostly likely going to operation lafiya dole

Officers die in battle all over the world, the guy is probably talking about pay. You should know there's a difference rank, level n benefits between someone that Join the army with BSC n someone that join as a recruit.
As for dying, that's something every army is prepared for regardless of your rank.
I wouldn't advise anyone to Join the army but if you want to join, join with at least hnd or bsc and not just as a recruit
