THE TIME TO TALK

Shall we, at this moment
Do away briefly with the pinging phones
Can we, for the meantime halt
The prattles, banters and hilarious comics online
To reminisce and have a candid confabulation
On the heart-wrenching manner, we live.
Can we have a matter-of-fact conversation
That calls for sober reflection.
So if you happen to be a willing discussant
Take a seat and let's talk

Let's talk about the debased era of humanity
Where fellow humans are ostracized
Marginalized and victimized,
On the basis of ;
Colour, race, religion,
Sexual orientation and gender.

Let us talk about the religious fanatics,
Bigots and the monomaniac extremists
Who have, since long ago, said goodbye to tolerance
And chant passionately, "death to adherents of other faith"
Letting it slip from their memory
The fact that we are all human
Before beliefs set us apart

Fellow discussers,
Let's also talk about the greedy capitalist
Who, in the quest of satisfying their insatiable avarice,
Have become monsters with no milk of humanity
They profiteer from wars, viral diseases and
Sales of harmful illegal drugs

Do not let us forget
To talk about rogue government officials
Who are only interested in stashing the nation's commonwealth
In foreign bank accounts
They are insouciant to the numerous woes
Of the people. They loot with reckless abandon
While the nation groans and languishes in austere

Let's also talk about
The revered people of the pulpit
Cloak in the garbs of the saints
Preying on the poor congregation
And persuade them to be steadfast
For their reward is in heaven

I wish the whole days is ours
So we can talk about the dysfunctional world we live in
And the normalization of
Bizarre abnormalities
But we are preoccupied with many commitment
Including social media
Where we 'lol' away
Any attempt to initiate
A frank tete-a-tete
But I'll keep the hope alive
That one day
We shall sit under the
Large indulgent full yellow moon
In communal of brotherhoods
And that will be the time to talk.
