Dear Applicant,

As of March 18, 2020, the United States Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria is cancelling routine nonimmigrant visa appointments. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.

The MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa application in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment.
If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at https://ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-expeditedappointment.asp to request an emergency appointment.

Sincerely

Help Desk

I got this type of message, should I cancelled my appointment or it has been cancelled automatically?
I got the same SMS & email too today. It has been cancelled already by the embassy.

Leave it let them do it. if they cancel it, it won't count against you.

You could--provided they state you could. Be informed, however, that you are going to need to obtain a letter from the organization in your home country, as well as from the organization in the United States, alluding to the fact that you "rightly and highly reasonably" need an emergency visa interview. You are gonna upload these letters in JPEG FORMATS, and then write a short essay of why you need an emergency visa appointment.

In about a few hours, you are going to see a feedback of whether your application is approved or denied. They are gonna review it.

Good luck, buddy.

Hi John. Thankss! I filled myself as sponsor on my DS-160 and my Husband as sponsor for himself and our Child. I had always filled my Husband as sponsor in the past but i just thought to change it (coming from a denial stand point i felt that that would demonstrate financial capability or 'ties' sort of). But again, i dont think that it would be a deal breaker either ways especially for you guys since its your first time applying together and no denial before.

Hello cinnamon thanks a lot for responding this helps a lot. I think we'll do exactly as you guys did and sponsor ourselves as it's what we've always done when we've applied separately anyway.

Enjoy your holidays when you go! Hopefully the world will be a lot calmer before long.

It's amusing for me to see some people get upset by Afonjaboston. Dude is living it up no doubt earning mad $6-figure pay in the US. The guy already said he's here for nostalgic reasons and to catch trips. I really think no one should be offended or take anything he says too seriously or deeply, he's a nutter (meant in a good way) who's just having fun on a faceless online forum. Truth be told I have respect for the guy because he posted one of the most encouraging stories I've read on this thread telling of how he came up from being a scholarship student with no connections but worked hard, got a good job here, travelled to the US for work and was such a badass at his job that his American superiors were the ones to request he stay back permanently. Yes this is a non immigrant thread but while it's great to be able to visit and come back, having the opportunity to legally work there whether permanently or temporarily and earn that FX ain't a bad deal at all. I know some say he and others derail the thread but truth be told if you are an info seeker, like most of us who come here are, then you'll just skip the off topic posts and click on to the next post/page.

What could be urgent than Covid-19? so far you're a Nigerian citizen no one in that U.S Embassy would arrange interview for you.

He derails the thread and I've wondered quite a few times why he does that. To me maybe he's bored and lonely plus he just needs to banter with his fellow Nigerians. One thing is clear going by his constant focus on this thread and the hours he spends, he misses home so let's be nice

You stated that your wife will put to bed in May. I doubt if that counts as an emergency according to US embassy. If you must go that route, ensure you get a letter from her Dr and be sure she is allowed to use the healthcare, or they might end up asking you for proof of funds. All the best

Just some positive news to cheer up the house in this season.
We went for our visa interview, Myself and hubby like 2 months ago. We were bounced like ball and my valid visa cancelled because i figured since i was travelling two weeks to my visa expiration it would be better to renew before going for a work related event.Mind you i have never stayed more than 3 weeks on any visit and had other visas on my passport. I was shook mehn. My international organisation sent emails back and forth but it was a long process and event was almost over by the time i was getting a reply.

So we reapplied reluctantly for a family holiday in Easter and same day Embassy closed is when we got our visas. Confidence and truthfulness is key.they have records of all your previous interviews and visits to the US so don't bother lying because if you do, they will check computer there and then and deny you.
Travel plans on hold for now until summer probably . Just relieved and thankful to have my visa back .Meanwhile the denials were like 30-1 approval.

"If you are a tourist B1/B2 visa..." and "... do to Corona virus....?" Who wrote this? On the USCIS website? That person needs to be quarantined methinks. This looks like the handiwork of that person that does most of the spellings/translations we see in Yoruba movies. I'm talking of just that person oh, not generalizing on that tribe please.

Hello house, I'm married to an American citizen, she is a black American, she came to Nigeria and we did our wedding and we have all our marriage certificates, we planned doing the immigrant visa but due to the ban on Nigerians we decide to do the B-2 visa which I will have to visit her, actually, we plan to do another wedding there in Los Angeles and our honeymoon in bahamas.

She plans to send me an invitation letter, she's sponsoring everything, my flight, my housing, my feeding, everything, she works and earns about 70k USD.

Pls what are my chances of getting the visa? I don't have any money of my own in my account and I'm not working, I only do business and I'm a pastor, my church and my business are not registered, what are my chances?

I planned going after this whole corona thing is over

No chance right now as no visa application, immigrant or non immigrantt, is going on in any of the US embassies in Nigeria. Flights also spotty everywhere. How will you travel to the USA?

You will tell VO that you have no money, no business, no job, nothing... Guy, don't do this to all of us.

This may be construed as economic migration opportunity.

You have a terrible way of "remembering " things. Of all the things you can be,be kind.
You are where people want to be, I really dont understand why you feel a need to make people feel less about themselves. you must be a deeply unhappy person.
I dont mean this in an unkind way but have you considered therapy at all? I can recommend a good one even if you havent got insurance

Lol I'm not sure whether pun was intended in this remarks. But I can categorically tell u that a professional clinician or social worker could not have said, a potential client "appears to be a deeply unhappy person that needs counseling." And that you are willing to refer him to one. Hahaha. But then maybe yes, it's not so bad anyways. Depends...
