WHAT STARS DO THAT ORDINARY PEOPLE DON’T DO! by Goldencheese(op): 6:15am On Mar 20, 2020
People are not dull, it’s just that they don’t pay attention.

They are victims of distractions.

They don’t work their behind off.

They don’t make the needed sacrifices.

They don’t continue even after they make mistakes because they have been taught all their lives that mistakes are bad and perfection should be the ultimate goal. Or they’ve been deluded to believe that success is attaining certain heights at certain age levels. Therefore, if they’ve gone beyond that age, they cry, whine, complain, gripe and finally they give up.

But mistakes are necessary to succeed in most, if not all, fields. Although certain fields abhor mistakes but because of the possibility of trainees making mistakes, that is why trainees are required or compelled to undergo years and years of training before such trainees become qualified. Moreover, when trainees qualify, they are still required to undergo constant retraining for them to continue to practise. You know such fields (e.g. medicine, engineering, nursing, and a few others).

But the way we learn is that we have to make mistakes.

You cannot be a great speaker until you start speaking and throwing around the “grammatical bombshells of errors” in order to improve yourself. You cannot be a great writer until you make grammatical, syntax and typographical or spelling mistakes. There is no trade on earth where you just get levitated to success without scratches, bruises and scars. (Abraham Lincoln is celebrated for some of his writings. But for one of them, he had to edit it 15 times and that one piece of writing has earned him accolades the world over.) This was why someone said, there is no star without a scar.

Without mistakes, there won’t be improvement and without improvement, perfection cannot be reached. However, life is not really about perfection but about committing your best to what you do. When you commit your best, and you add passion, make sacrifices, pay attention, and outwork everybody else, you definitely should emerge a champion. It may take a little while before you begin to see or make progress, but if you persist and continue grinding, you will succeed.

Mind you, I had to edit this little piece of writing about four times for it to make sense to me and I hope it makes sense to you.

Maybe we'd need to read the little piece ten times to make sense to us.
