Lawmaker Defies COVID-19 Precaution, Organises Party, Gbajabiamila, Akala, Olubadan, Others In Attendance

IBADAN- A member of House of Representatives representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Musliu Akinremi on Friday defied one of the precautions in the spread of Coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19 by gathered people for the final burial ceremony of his father, Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Akinremi Adisa, held at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, UCH, Ibadan, which was graced by political office holders and politicians across different political parties.

Those in attendance that defied the precaution includes Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala; and Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I.

Other personalities at the party includes the Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Prof Abiodun Otegbayo; the 2019 governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; Senator Teslim Folarin, representing Oyo Central in the Senate; governorship aspirant of APC in Oyo State in 2019, Dr. Olusola Ayandele; and Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Akin Oke.

The 2019 governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the state, Alhaji Sarafadeen Alli; chieftains of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that included Alhaji Abass Oloko and Wasiu Emiola, were also in attendance.

Though, proper screening against COVID-19 was conducted for every person before entering the hall with digital thermometer and alcohol-based hand santiser provided by the organisers, which individuals used to disinfect their hands against Coronavirus.

The popular Fuji music icon, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, who was installed recently as Mayegun of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, was the artiste for the occasion and he did what he knew how to do best.

The hall was filled to capacity and provision was also made for special canopy outside the hall, where political followers of Akinremi, a business tycoon, were entertained.

Let them be, Coronavirus has not respect for political class. I fact it appears Covid-19 has penchant for big men. Many parliamentary members have been infested in Iran, the wife of the Canada Prime Minister has been infected while the husband is on self quarantine.
Key words is obedience to safety precautions, avoiding crowds etc. If they choose to test the strength of Covid-19, the consequences of their indiscretions will be on their heads.

It is even better they get the virus and pass it to all their colleagues and Bubu.
