I never said you had to be wealthy to enter a mall stop arguing an nonexistent point. I'm referring to how the average Nairobian is impoverished and how they wouldn't be able to afford 95% of the products in there . I've been to Nairobi, Kenya and have first hand experience. Almost all the malls are owned by Israelis, British etc while most of the head staff are local Indians with more than half of the shoppers being expats and tourists. Why are people this stupid?

Have you ever been to a mall before it seems you haven't
Malls consist of ordinary supermarkets, beauty shops restraunts cinemas bars an average Kenyan can afford that with easy
Nairobi has alot of malls those tourists and expats cannot sustain them
As I said before stop being desperate

What's the future of Kenya's tourism and tea dependent economy now that the world economy is on lockdown and locust have made a colony in East Africa ?

You are about to experience oil scarcity while you produce oil
The world will go into recession
Stop hiding behind Kenya

We have never entered recession due to falling oil price... If we enter a recession now,it will be because of the global economic meltdown that's looming...

I think u should worry about your country .. u are already in recession and preparing for a total lockdown... Maybe as a Boer,u don't really care, but think of the poor blacks like Ahmotepezuid(or whatever)... Can they withstand it?
Does ur government have some financial relieve packages for them ?

Yes you have entered recession because of dropping oil prices
Your GDP was 500billion in 2014 remember that

Negative according to who?

Please b**ch ...it's been 3 months already...the whole world is going to be hit hard economically...if we haven't slip into recession after 3 months of the virus epidemic worldwide,I think we can survive a few months more...
And like I said,Nigeria has never slipped into recession due to fall in oil price.... But u see that tourism and tea sector of yours will suffer greatly... And with the locust wrecking more havoc, you'd be deluded to think that Kenya's economy will fare better than ours during this period...

Your economy has experienced recession stop lying
Which three months those three months the virus was affecting China alone and it has spread allover the world now
It is increasing in Africa and very African countries will be under locked down
So tell me how you will do better than Kenya while you main cash cow oil the prices have crushed
Stop being delusional

At least our economy is diversified and developed enough to withstand and recover quickly after the events of covid19.

Several relief packages have been put in place by the Government for the lockdown period, including a debt relief fund, tax relief packages for individuals , solidarity fund for SMEs and other financial aid for individuals.

The oil price is currently under $30..... That's insanely low.... The oil price alone is enough to cause recession In Nigeria, now combine that with the economic impact with covid19 and the fact that your poverty rate is over 50%,then you have the perfect storm for a recession!!

The guy is a fool
Nigeria's GDP was 500billion in 2014
Now it's around 380
What happened to it

Ghana is still smaller. Egypt is far third.

Nigeria may have revenue issues due to low oil prices and weak demand it may slip back further down

Ethiopia surpassed us
We just regain the title recently

yeah, lot of height restriction in different part of Lagos.

U can't build above 25floors or 100m in Ikoyi, for example. Height restriction was effected in Lagos in d early 2000s.

Only Marina have buildings above 100m cos that area was developed before d height restriction law. But Eko atlantic is having taller structures cos its higher above sea level than Lagos city.

Exactly! Even that 100m was recently allowed in Ikoyi.

Till date many areas have height restriction in Lagos but I think it undermine the potential of the city. Lagos state government should open eyes.

AMID plans to attract private real estate investors and developers into the metropolis, Lagos authorities have zoned some high residential density areas often referred to as high Streets in Victoria Island to accommodate high rise developments of 110 metres (approximately 30 floors).

Areas with the permissible height are Adeyemo Alakija, Idowu Taylor, Adeola Hopewell, Adetokunbo Ademola, Ajose Adeogun and Akin Adesola. The new move is part of the Revised Ikoyi-Victoria Island Model City Plan (2013-2033) that specifically earmarked some streets as central business district, mixed-use corridor, hospitality corridor and high residential density

Argue with your economist. grin

South Africa has been in recession since 2013: economist

Ackerman noted that the GDP number came in below expectations, and has sent the country back into a technical recession.

However, the economist pointed out that a technical recession is merely a statistical measure of a recession (two successive quarters of economic decline), adding that South Africa has in fact been in recession since 2013 in terms of per capita growth.

don't say kenya or Ethiopia, we only have one regional superpower. South Africa is the giant of south, Egypt north, Nigeria west and kenya in east, we were carrying the title some few years back before our neighbours Ethiopia took it. We came again and overtook them, we're now the regional power, I don't see if we'll be overtaken by Ethiopia soon regardless of there booming economy. Though they are our toughest competitor in east, grin

We gave them a national antherm, and we don't sue them or charge them for singing our song.can any Kenyan do that?

Kenya is not involved in anthem scandals so kenya cannot be in such a situation. We created our own very beautiful anthem from one of our communities the tiny Pokomo, and its even more beautiful than the Tz stolen anthem, actually its one of the best globally as evidenced by 2016 Rio Olympics.
Tanzania couldnt create their own anthem and instead chose to steal, hence your foundation as a country is based on theft.
