Well your comment is base on sentiment has an Igbo man.
1-You started with "Easterners" grouping the south south people and south east people into one group, trying to create oneness among us.
2-The old eastern region was a government by Igbo, for Igbo and of Igbo. Adaka boro couldn't take the inequality and oppression, were an Igbo man could purchase land and transact business anywhere in the eastern region without government approval, while the minority tribes will have to travel to Enugu to apply to buy land in their own locality.

1 - I commented based on the writers article who did same, that was why I had to "quote" it...

2 - Adaka boro fought for the independence of the Niger delta because infrastructures were clustered in the then east (the little the east could get)..

The boggling thing about adaka boro, was he fought for regional independence of the Niger delta but aligned with the Nigerian army against the biafran secessionist.. in all, the Niger delta was granted regional independence.

I disagree with the list 1000x
Below is the list that reflects Nigeria

Religion Moves The North
(If you want to incite the people talk about religion)

Tribalism Moves The West,
(If you want to twinkle the people talk in Yoruba dialect)

History Moves The East
(If you want to spark the people talk about the 1966 pogrom and civil war)
Fixed wink

I disagreed on ethnicity aspect. The writer deliberately ignored the real ethnicity of southeast.

The most tribalistic tribe in Nigeria are igbo. Go to igbo shop when you're speaking English they will be speaking their language they know you are not hear. But anytime this matter arise note that they want to cheat you.

If you are a Yoruba and you know how to speak igbo you are trouble because they will hate you with passion.

And for the religious aspect igbo people aren't religious tolerant .there are many igbo muslims but they will not allow them to have say or represent them in Anyway. That's why Anambra people hate Ebonyi people.

Don't mind them. Naturally I will tread with caution when dealing with people who want me dead. Just imagine a fellow Nigeria telling another tribe(Igbos) that they will never be president and you expect me and my love ones to play with you its not possible. It seems most Nigerians are naturally wicked and mischievous. All they think is how to oppress their neighbour that's why we are still in this state. Other countries the government try to help the needy but here its opposite. Just imagine having those popular tribalistic and hateful beings here who preach hate as president, they will make sure the Igbos suffer. Such a wicked world we live in. With all their propaganda the eastern part of Nigeria will keep progressing

I said igbos form unnecessary attachment to their tribe. The writer clearly stated what drives igbos is ethnic loyalty.

Ethnic loyalties. People are naturally tribal in the sense of wanting or needing to be part of a close-knit group (or groups).

You need to go off the grid and enroll in a night school for adult.

Keep telling yourself that while you run away from the truth.

Atiku that igbos voted for is Fulani with many wives and many cases of corruption to the extent that he cannot travel to America. Yet, you voted for him because he campaigned on the platform of PDP where your stake is protected.

You need to give up the mentality that your choices and everything about are always the best simply because you are igbo.

Guy Atiku is 1000 times better than Buhari. Is Buhari hands clean? All most all politicians in Nigeria are not saints, so for development to take place one must vote for someone that is sincere to carry everyone along and ready to work. I don't care if he's Fulani or has many wives its not my business. My only concern is that I don't want any religious bigot or tribalistic person to preside over the affairs of Nigeria. Buhari is showing the characters of most hateful monikers on nairaland.

The east are not known for ethnic and tribal jingoism... the topic ascribing the east as ethnic is totally different from the article itself.

"From the article", it goes to show the SW may be the tribal and ethnic region wanting everyone to follow a single party or path aswell as kingmaker and any dissenting view is seen as an aberration and possibly called an outcast.. according to the article, this goes against the line of equity and fairness which the East abhors.. that may be the reason why the fight here never ends.

Re: Religion Moves The North, Politics Moves The West, Ethnicity Moves The East by Nobody: 9:42am On Mar 31, 2020
Igbos, even when highly educated, will always be dishonest and revisionist.

The ethnic jingoism eating up their soul means they have to manipulate everything dishonestly to make themselves appear better than others.

Here they jump on the article author's opinion the SW is 'politically intolerant' to begin the spin they think will make others see Yorubas in a bad light.

The incontrovertible reality is that last election disgraces the pontificating of the article and the revisionist dishonesty of Igbo posters here.

Yorubas, with their son as APC VP candidate, voted healthily for the PDP. How did the Igbos vote? Can you Igbos remind us again? Why did Igbos vote this way in 2011 and 2015 i.e 99% for the PDP?

Why did the Yorubas vote the way they did in 2011 and 2015 i.e almost split down the middle for APC and PDP when, according to author, Yorubas are the ones who queue behind one Party with no tolerance for politic dissent?

Is it not true Igbos are the only ones who speak in defiance of statistical facts and on-ground occurence/reality we all witnessed and continue to see daily?

Which region makes it crystal clear it has not even a minimal interest supporting any other Party aside PDP if not the SE? Which region has split vote most since 1999 and which has not? Nairalanders, including Igbos, abeg answer honestly na.

The author of the article is Igbo and understands he must find a way to be kind to his own people. Hence the politically correct nature of his write-up.

Aside religious tolerance, the Yorubas are the most politically tolerant and sophisticated ethnic group in Nigeria for those who only focus on evidence-based arguments and not sentiment.

On politics the Yorubas vote meritoriously always because they value good leadership above every other consideration. The Igbos political vote is always a vote of ethnic and/or religious intolerance.

If anyone wants to discuss this objectively and using tangible evidence, then we can start with actual votes recorded in every region from 1999, when our current democracy began, and leave out emotions and sentiment.

If we do this then only one conclusion can be drawn. Yoruba tolerance extends to politics and everything else while Igbos intolerance is a blanket cover over politics, religion, ethnicity and even caste.

Truth is bitter and the Igbo man, sentimental and hateful by nature, is the last person ready for the truth.

I 100% agree with the writer on what moves the north. I however disagree on what moves the West and the East. while to an extent politics moves the West, the operation wetie example he gave to buttress his point is misleading and out of context. Because to say that WETIE was a political violence is not entirely correct, it was more about ideology than politics. and as for the East. the writer used the biafran war to make his point, while he might be right to have used it as a proof to show how the Igbos respond to ethnicity, his narration on what drove the Igbos to embark on biafran war is totally flawed. while the writer would have us believe that it was for fairness and equity, it is not. the war was born out of the need to dominate the entity called nigeria, which as at that time had been taken over by the north with the help of the East. So the war was not for any fairness or equity but for tribal supremacy. It's only the niger-delta examples he gave that are valid because there ethnicity is stirred towards self protection and wellbeing and not towards the need to dominate others which is the Igbos way of ethnicity

One of my course mates in the University called Shola used to be a member of our church when I was attending RCCG in 100L.

Some years later, I saw him with some Muslim guys coming from a Mosque and I was surprised because I used to see him in church, so I asked him what happened.

He said his dad is a Muslim but the Mum a Christian and their parents gave them freedom to practice both religions and chose the one they like when they become 18 years. It sounded strange to me.

Much later around 2012, two younger siblings (Idowu &, Alaba) of my very close friend wanted to get married.

Alaba got married in the Church of his in-laws. Then, I asked my friend which church will his younger sister get married (expected to be their father's church) and he said 'no church' ,then he said something that really surprised me 'Dad is not a Christian nau. He was born a Muslim but doesn't go to mosques or attend any Muslim programmes. He is neither a Christian also. He is on his own!'

And I have seen their dad, slaughtering a big goat for Christmas before.

Bestinstinct:
I totally agree with you. Let me buttress your points with my family setting. My Paternal grand dad is christian while my grand mom is a muslim (both are very serious with religion). My dad is indifferent while my mom is a very serious christian. Religion/ethnicity is never an issue in my family and cannot be forced on anyone. My dad is a Yoruba while my Mom is from South South. I stopped going to church at age 13 and became a full blooded atheist at 30. I prefer dating outside Yoruba and it doesn't affect my relationship with any of my siblings nor my parents. Our belief and who we decide to dwell with just doesn't matter. When it comes to politics, we are equally free to choose but I don't see myself supporting another political party when my younger bro is having something strong going on for him with another party. Doing otherwise can be considered as betrayal. I believe that sums up your point on Yoruba smiley In conclusion, I believe each zone should be given equal chances to pursue their dreams.

100% correct. The writer, while trying to form neutral and objective, does not escape that curse of Igbos that makes them subjective, biased and forever fond of duplicity, revisionism and half-truths.

Pray tell how anyone sane can accuse Yorubas of political intolerance if we are talking of the same Nigeria where records exists for how every ethnic group has voted since 1999?

Who has never given any other political Party a fair showing in its region since 1999 when our current democracy began if not Igbos.... and overwhelmingly so till they went on to gain the tag of "5%" people?

This is true. But you know the person you quoted will never agree because he has never ventured out of Yoruba land. He may not even know where his parents came from. All he knows is, he's a lagosian.

I worked in an office before I went to University, from the chairman to the cleaner, everyone spoke Yoruba as an official language while those who do not understand were usually lost.

Though I liked that about them, but go to an office where an igboman is head, rather than identify with you as a brother, he will be speaking nonsense grammar as if he's from England.

I can speak and write Yoruba fluently because I dont begrudge them from speaking in their dialect when I'm present. That way I mastered the language. Same goes for efik, Ishan and Ora in Edo state.

Yorubas are more driven by tribe than any other but I still don't begrudge them in a country like Nigeria.
