An argument ensued last week among my business associates and it revolved around which product that would be in highest demand during this period.

Many positions were advanced and defended which I will share here.

There is some truth in this but notice also that even though they get to the shops/kiosks without anything particular in mind, they still leave with something. What is it they are inclined or persuaded to buy?

I passed by a popular joint yesterday that has a notoriety for this genre of practitioners and it had practically lost its very essence.

Mind you I passed there twice; once in the afternoon and later at night.

okay so you know Lagos island yeah.. Just take an uber down and then tell the driver you are going to kirikiri maximum o not minimum then drop at the gate and then knock 4 times that is the code ... I just noticed yesterday that there was quite a crowd in a neighbourhood fuel station operating under one of the major brand names.

Several people on queue to buy LPG (Domestic Cooking Gas).

The most noticeable thing was the fact that most of the buyers carried cylinders that reflected their economic status.

The smallest of cylinders was most noticeable.

There were very few of the standard 12.5 cylinders that most middle class families prefer to use.

Absolutely no 50 kg cylinder in sight.

And bless us too and more especially the leaders in our contemporary world, who understand that the fight and ultimate victory over this pandemic requires decisive action geared towards providing food for the masses who are inclined to move around and spread the virus if food is far-fetched.

Very interesting question.

I went out yesterday to several pharmacies and chemist stores that were open in my hood.

I was searching for face masks. 11 outlets visited and not one of them had the sudedenly elusive face mask. Also no surgical gloves available.

Walking back, it struck me that this must be the general case in Lagos and maybe other towns within Nigeria.

On a small scale if one had a stock of 10 Million worth of face masks, one could sell it off now without any issue.

On a larger scale, if one could source a very large consignment of facemasks, the Task force on Vivid 19 might be easily persuaded to buy. Or better still get the documentation and invite the several Billionaires in the country to fall over themselve and pay for it in return for good press.


Locally, some smart tailor could make these masks and sell them like I have seen some locally made Sanitisers in different shapes and sizes.
