Countries With 5G Mobile Internet And Those Scheduled For Launch In 2020 by davodyguy: 11:01am On Apr 06, 2020
I am compelled to put this write up together in view of the ongoing discourse, most especially comments being made by some influential Nigerians who ordinarily know next to nothing about technology and how stuff works, but are spreading false information about 5G and brainwashing their gullible supporters to think 5G is evil.

I would start by chronicling Nigeria's evolving from 2G to 4G and thereafter list countries with 5G mobile internet technology

Nigeria's story
The advent of GSM in Nigeria was in 2001 under the Obasanjo administration. OBJ licenced MTN and Econnet Wireless. Globacom was not licenced until 2003, Mtel in 2004 and thereafter Etisalat and Ntel in 2015/2016

Around 2001-2004, the mobile internet technology communication in Nigeria was in between 2G and 2.5G. Many of us would notice G or GPRS beside the network bars on our old phones when we browse the internet, around that same time Seun Osewa launched Nairaland

Around 2004-2007, mobile mobile internet technology communication in Nigeria moved to 2.75G. Then, we noticed E which means EDGE beside the network bars on our phones

Around 2007-2011, mobile mobile internet technology communication in Nigeria moved to 3G. Then, we noticed 3G which means 3rd Generation beside the network bars on our phones

Around 2010-2013, mobile mobile internet technology communication in Nigeria moved to 3.5G. Then, we noticed H which means HSPA beside the network bars on our phones

Around 2012-2015, mobile mobile internet technology communication in Nigeria moved to 3.75G. Then, we noticed H+ which means High Speed Packet Access beside the network bars on our phones

from 2015 to date, Nigeria launched 4G LTE with our GSM network providers now telling us to buy 4G enabled phones and in some cases, many us bought new sim cards.

In Nigeria, the journey has been from
2G to 2.5G, to 2.75G, to 3G, to 3.5G and now to 4G LTE
While 4G LTE is yet to be available in many states and localities in Nigeria, many countries moved to 4.5G LTE Advanced Pro, which was even faster than 4G.

To be honest, the 4G LTE in Nigeria can't be compared with 4G LTE in some developed countries. Our 4G LTE still has same internet speed with 3.5G of some countries, this is why it seldom take 'ages' for us to open some pages or even some images shared with us on Whatsapp. Many of our 4G can't even stream 144p videos on youtube or even enjoy NETFLIX as we should.

While I was in Paris(France) for the Christmas holiday in December, 2019 the free Wifi available in our apartment was from Orange Telecom and it operated on 4.5G LTE Advanced Pro. The speed was super fast and we enjoyed streaming seamlessly.

I am posting now, using GLO 4G LTE and it is super frustrating. It is slow and not encouraging

5G is a generation currently under development. It denotes the next major phase of mobile telecommunications standards beyond the current 4G/IMT-Advanced standards.

NGMN Alliance or Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance define 5G network requirements as:

Data rates of several tens of Mb/s should be supported for tens of thousands of users.
1 Gbit/s to be offered, simultaneously to tens of workers on the same office floor.
Several hundreds of thousands of simultaneous connections to be supported for massive sensor deployments.
Spectral efficiency should be significantly enhanced compared to 4G.
Coverage should be improved.
Signalling efficiency enhanced.
Latency should be significantly reduced compared to LTE

Saudi Arabia, Iran, UAE (popularly refereed to as Dubai by Nigerians) Qatar are Islamic countries with good culture and very religious. They have all launched 5G technology and not sentimental like Nigeria

U.S.A already has 5G technology and only jealous of China, as the Chinese are at a level in terms of 5G deployment where the US is yet to match

A guy was lecturing me this morning about this 5G. While I sat down applying sanitizer on my hand, he passed by and started telling me about non presence of covid 19 in Nigeria. After like 5mins he's been arguing with himself he finally left.
Do you know the most annoying part!? I didn't say pim. grin

There is no point arguing with an ignorance person. As they say, ignorance is a choice.

Back to this 5G issue. People need to be educated quickly about this 5G. It's not the fault of people who are condemning it but what awareness are the so called telcos doing to inform people of the health hazard poss by installing all this mast and all.

The reason being that the roll out in those two countries you mentioned are partial , like testing mode and never fully envelope.
That's the reason for the low numbers of casualties.

When you are educated but ignorant this is the kind information you share.I was expecting to see your analysis on the electromagnetive wave but nothing. Then I realized you are a blind fellow. The 5 G is way beyond speed. It is a complete departure from 4 G .The speed you talked is an elementary part of it.It is human connectivity to substance in layman language. Therefore it comes with advantage and disadvantage. The disadvantage is more because of human manipulative tendency which can be done through it .That is the scary aspect and the wave omissions is relatively high for the environment. This can trigger or alter organism behaviors negatively towards human existence.

Any 5G without Huawei is just modified 4G. So far only China and countries that partner with Huawei have the real 5G. The type MTN is rolling out in Nigeria. However, it's stupid to think 5G causes virus......extreme stupidity at that!

This is a fallacy called Affirming the consequent. Because 5G is usually installed in high population commercial cities and the coronavirus spread more rapidly in highly populated cities, you immediately conclude that 5G is responsible for high rate of infections in highly populated cities.

The same Nigerians are screaming 5G causes cancer and are destroying telecommunication masts are the same Nigerians living under high tension cables. Are you kidding me? High tension cables generates much more harmful radiation than any telecoms mast.

This is a fallacy called Affirming the consequent. Because 5G is usually installed in high population commercial cities and the coronavirus spread more rapidly in highly populated cities, you immediately conclude that 5G is responsible for high rate of infections in highly populated cities.

Do I need to tell you how much research I had done before comin to conclusions.
Why are the rates of death high in all those aforementioned countries despite their very efficient and highly sophisticated health care system and our own with our arcade health system we are recording lower death , let me help ,you will say testing needed to be increased because we have many hidden cases or Italy was having just one case on 1st of February but by 1st of March it has risen to 7000 cases. Continue deceiving yourself

All these people claiming that 5g causes coronavirus, please can you just post any academic study or any reliable authority on radiation to backup your claims.

You people are just attacking solid science based on the words of a charlatan and a political conman SMH.

If you can not do your own research on the Internet to look for facts then I can't help you

To the conspiracy theorists, when you travel to any of the 76 countries(excluding Nigeria) listed above and your offered free wifi, ask them if the network is from 5G. If it's from 5G, please don't use, so you don't have cancer

Compiled the above, using data from:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mobile_phone_generations
https://www.lifewire.com/5g-availability-world-4156244

A positive outcome of these dumb conspiracies is that some of our politicians and pastorprenuers may stop traveling
out to avoid dying of 5G.

That is, if they really believed the nonsense they are spreading.
