Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere on Monday said the disbursement of the N20,000 Conditional Cash Transfer to poor households across the country by the federal government is susceptible to massive corruption.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadia Umar-Farouk had said that the Federal Government would be giving out the sum of N20,000 to each person for the next four months as a way of cushioning the effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, many Nigerians had claimed they had not received any cash donation alert, wondering the modalities the government used in disbursing the funds.

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Yinka Odumakin, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary said the process of distribution of the fund is not transparent as Nigerians cannot track the names and addresses of the recipients for verification.

The organisation also condemned the lopsided pattern of distribution of the cash wondering why a state like Katsina can get over 6,000 beneficiaries and Anambra got just over 1,000.

“That donation is susceptible to massive corruption as there are no verifiable indices used to determine who the recipients are”.

“A transparent process should be trackable with names and addresses of recipients known. It is just another project the way Nigerian government is known to play with public funds are played with”.

Lol. Afenifere is just sugarcoating talk. What they mean is that the money has, as usual, done a vanishing act once again. And rightly so.

I haven't seen a single person here in delta that have received the 20k. Unproductive northern states will just be taking everything.

Of course, it is a daylight robbery!
The sensible thing to do by any “HONEST” government’s standards is to send the money via their BVN and for those who dont have bvn it will have been a perfect opportunity to get them enrolled.

By the way, isnt this the reason they earmarked billions for NIN card project?

Couldn’t they have identified the poorest Nigerians thru their useless NIN?

All over the world that is what is being done, how can you in your right senses carry 500million naira in cash, put on a table and start sharing?
