Borrowing is not bad. The question is what are they borrowing for. If they are borrowing for capital projects that will directly or indirectly yield investment, then no problem. Such projects can service the loans in future. Such loans should be encouraged. What should be discouraged is borrowing for recurrent expenditure and irresponsible projects. In the past, Nigeria borrowed to pay salaries. That was silly.
see this one talking as if he's in Jupiter. buhari have cash out almost all your foreign reserve, borrowing again and you're talking about capital project

point to one thing your family member or you gain from this govt since 2015

The government is a reflection of the people.

And until we stop thinking of the economy as money to be shared and start thinking of it as 'how we can produce for the world' we are going to keep on suffering.
is only apc supporters that will blame the masses for the failures of this government, when Jonathan was in power we were made to believe that he was the problem ,now the narrative has turned to the people, u guys are not blaming pdp anymore?

Hmmm... the $6.9 B loan is a necessity due to the fragile state of the economy brought on by COVID 19.

Really?

Most of us are ignorant and unintelligent. We can't even manage a home, yet we look for the slightest chance to hurl insults at leaders. These people may not be the best but one has to apply some sense and understanding in some issues. When I read comments on nairaland, I weep for the present and future. Some of the people who have run businesses and even families aground are even hurling insults too. A lot of countries are indebted. Even U.S is heavily indebted. What matters is what the loans are being used for. If Nigeria borrows 1 trillion for power and invests it into power with commensurate result, its a worthy loan. The result will service the loan and Nigerians will be better off. Same applies to rail, roads, industries and infrastructure. Not borrowing to service previous loans as we did in the past or to pay salaries and other recurrent expenditures or to buy cars or relief materials.

1.LOL...I'm not an APC supporter

2.From time immemorial, we have been saying 'Government bad' and true, they have all been bad, but when it is time to change things, nothing changes.

3.The truth is, we have been running a share the money system from time immemorial. Once you understand that, you will see why things have not changed.

4.Buhari is not a good leader and neither was GEJ or any of our past leaders. The mistake they all make is think that sharing money is the way to develop Nigeria. If oil price goes up, Buahri will have more money to share, and you people will hail him as a good leader. Well, that's not how an economy works.

A good leader is one that makes us more productive. Not one that comes and starts sharing money.

You see why I can't vote for APC or PDP??

silly human being. To you, government is all about personal gain. Very foolish mentality. Stomach infrastructure mentality. What you need is proper education. You don't have proper information and will not seek one. Ignorance at it's peak. Your type is the reason I weep for this country. Cos sooner or later you will start making decisions either for yourself or a group of urchins. That is just a disaster.

It is very easy for Nigerian government to get quick loan approval from abroad, but it is extremely hard for Nigerian citizens to get business loan from the government.

unfortunately what Nigerians want is one who will give them money for doing nothing. That's just it. Nothing more. We have a mentally sick population. Very despicable. The youths don't want education but want to live large. Those in school are just there for the certificate. None understands the rudiments of what they are doing. From most comments here, you can deduce they have no inkling on what proper economy runs like. Its chop i chop mentality they have.

with respect to the picture you attached, i cannot comment cos i haven't had time to read around that case. All I hear is the the abacha loot meant to be repatriated to Nigeria will allegedly be give to a former governor. Bagudu or so. Don't know if I'm right. I will thoroughly research and read around it when I have time. Then I can talk on it. I don't rely on rumours or unverified information. A problem with most of us.

Buhari and Malami also campaigned for Bagudu- one of the most notorious money launderers in history, who helped Abacha launder billions of dollars to be Governor of Kebbi state.

Borrowing to steal is a crime against Nigeria posterity. Borrowing to steal the borrowed fund is a sin that will not be forgiven.

Nigeria is facing COVID-19 and funds meant to alleviate the frustration of the Nigerian people are lost to fire in their billions and shared to anonymous fellows in billions.

Nigeria is facing COVID -19 lockdown and some part of the country are categorized as more venerable than others and some individuals categorized as more in need than others.

These are sins that will not go unpunished. These sins will not go unpunished as they borrow more to steal more and leave the future Nigerians in depth.
The bold really pained me ehn.
Those folks in Zamfara they term poor are largely rural dwelling folks which they term poor. In the current pandemic, who do you think is taking the hit more? The man in a village in zamfara who go to farm, eat well, doesn't miss school lockdown or the man in Onitsha, Owerri, Benin, Kaduna whose daily earning keeps him going?

That shows you how wicked our govt is.

Let us all still be thankful that international financial organisations are still willing to grant us loans what will we do if they refuse to grant us? I just pray that our leaders use the loans judiciously, the era of financial irresponsibility is over.

It is

Because quite simply, we are not earning enough from oil. Oil accounts for most of our earnings, and the price is too low for us to make much.

[

Comapre with the UK which spends $100billion for health alone[/b].

Add the fact that corruption and looting would chop most of our money.

The truth is, we are not a rich nation. Both parties in Nigeria are not interested in changing Nigeria because Nigerians themselves want the money to be shared. We won't spend what little we have on developing our productive capacity. Instead, we use the money for sharing.

That's why we can never develop, and why we will be taking loans. We are not earning enough money. And until we change our mindset to that of a producing industrial nation, we shall be where we are forever.
Q]The fact is, our budget is just about $26 billion dollars. Our reserve is about $33 billion now. All for a population of 200 million people.

No money reach my hand from that amount. Chai
