Hi everyone, due to my passion to learning programming and coding, I would like to know the best course to study in the university pertaining to programming and coding. Please is computer engineering the best course for a person who wishes to be a programmer or coder?
Thank you.

Go for computer engineering I advise you. Computer science is an absolutely wasted course (I recently realised this). If you go for Computer Science you might regret it, if you like electronics go for computer engineering but if you still want computer science no one can stop you. Either way you will regret it.

I am very serious here. I hate and dislike your comment. Very discouraging and with no hope or advice but full of threat.

Now my answer to the main question. Computer Engineering or Computer science??

Am a computer engineering student.

You need to first know this that school will not train you to be a programmer, Engineer or developer. You've have to train yourself on this, Either self-taught or get trained somewhere. But school will always be a guide and eye opener due to the people you will meet

Computer engineering students work hand in hand with electronics, that's y they also do networking and telecommunications. However, you can branch on your own to computer science specialties like programming and artificial intelligence. And even do well than a computer science.

Please be guided, that comp. Engr. also write code in networking and telecommunication.

I am a front end developer, a JavaScript programmer yet a Computer engineering student. But at 200L , I started learning programming with the school WiFi on my own.

Now, computer science. They have a good understanding of how these codes run, i.e they learnt algorithm and some kinds of theories in their department.
There mind as being prepare and guided to know their is something called programming, now it's up to each students to start learning on their own.

I must say the theories taught in computer science are not appearing useful until you pickup a programming language or a technology in the field. That's when you will appreciate what they teach.
I attended some computer science class then and I must say, I appreciate it now.

Same way with computer engineering, we don't appreciate those formulas and calculations but when we enter industry, nobody tells us their usefulness.

So op, according to your question, I think computer science is what you need , but with what I have explained above, that's should guide your choice.

Well the truth is that computer science is wasted unfortunately. What do you do for four years? Learn about some geeks algorithm and then what find another useless job like the rest of the population. Bah Humbug such rubbish, as a computer engineer you are luckier. There is hope of course but we must ready ourselves for disappointment. Computer science students and their dead analysis of algorithms are totally baseless unfortunately I don't have time to argue with anyone just grasp the truth and go for computer engineering. Computer science can be studied as a side course online but computer engineering requires utter focus, but we'll it's your business you will regret something's later and still move on, or you might regret doing any later but still just try at least.
