So, understand that nothing happened to Christ by accident and nothing took Him by surprise. It was written concerning Him that He would suffer, make sacrifice for the salvation of the whole of humanity, His betrayal, death and resurrection, and they were fulfilled according to prophecies even to the minutest details. Everything happened unto Christ as prophesied. - Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

SPECIAL MONDAY BIBLE STUDY BROADCAST

MINISTER: PASTOR W.F. KUMUYI

TOPIC: THE IRREVOCABLE ABIDING COMMANDMENT OF LOVE

TEXT: MARK 12:28-34

* 28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
* 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
* 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
* 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
* 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
* 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
* 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

We are continuing in our series of studies in the book of Mark and tonight, we are studying from Mark 12:28-34.

You need to understand that the Jews had series of commandments apart from the Ten Commandments. There were commandments in every area of their lives, not only that, the Pharisees added several to them until they had hundreds and hundreds of them. What to do and not to do on the sabbath day, in the family, and so on.

Now, this scribe wanted to know which is the first and most important of all the commandments. Jesus answered him that the first commandment is to love the Lord our God with all our hearts and our neighbours as ourselves.

The words of Christ are very rich, deep and applicable to every generation and situation we are going through, especially now with the pandemic ongoing in the whole world. The words of Jesus given at that time are still appropriate for our present situation.

This is the time for us to get closer and express love to ourselves more than ever before. Love is the central theme of today’s teaching. When you think about God, He is love. When you think about Christ, he loved us so much, He even called us friends. When you think about the church, God wants us to love one another. So, the commandment on love is still relevant, profitable and necessary today. Obedience to the commandment of love is irrevocable and irreplaceable.

A. THE PRIORITY OF OBEDIENCE TO THE FIRST COMMAND. Mark 12:28-30
The scribe was just discovering that Jesus Christ answered the question he asked Him well. All things that Jesus did, He did well. Everything He said, He said well. Every interaction and touch He does well. Do you have any questions in your heart, any burden you are bearing or anything mysterious that you do not understand? Commit them to Jesus, He will answer you well. And the answer the Lord gives you will bring solution to all the problems. At this time of the pandemic when we are going through either total or partial lockdown all over the world, the Lord will give you an answer that will profit your life in Jesus name.

The first commandment is to love the Lord with all our heart. In doing this, you give yourself over to Christ completely by accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour. You obey Him by coming out of the world and turning totally to Him in the corner of your house or anywhere you may be, with no part left for the world (Matthew 22:36-38) The same emphasis we have in Mark is also seen in Matthew. The Lord does not permit us to love Him half-heartedly, superficially or haphazardly. He wants all of us just as He Himself has given us everything (Deuteronomy 10:12).

For you to love God, you must be born again, you must be saved. Then He will circumcise and cleanse your heart so that you can love Him wholeheartedly (Deuteronomy 30:6; Matthew 6:24) We cannot love God and mammon (money), we cannot be passionate about the things of the world and the things of God at the same time.

Luke 10:25-28. Whatever questions you have, you must go back to the scriptures. The answer to the scribe’s question is that he will love the Lord with all his heart, but this is not possible except the heart is converted and circumcised (Romans 5:5) Without the presence of the Holy Ghost in your heart, you cannot love the way you ought to (I John 4:16,19) Because God is love, He loves us despite what is happening around us. Therefore, we also love Him because He first loved us. Because we have partaken of the love of God, the love is shed abroad in our hearts and we adore, worship, follow and obey Him all the times, seasons and even at this special time in the world, pandemic or epidemic, the Lord loves us. Therefore, we will not allow any competitor to take our hearts away from Him till we see Him face to face.

B. THE PERMANENCE OF OUR OBLIGATION TO THE SECOND COMMANDMENT. Mark 12:31
There is no commandment greater than these two: you love the Lord your God with all your heart and your neighbour as yourself. As you look at the Ten Commandments, they were so important to the Israelites. They are broadly divided into two: the first four relating to God while the remaining six relate to all humans around us.

Part 1
When you love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind:
1. You will have no other gods beside Him
2. You will not make or bow down to any image
3. You will not call the name of God in vain but with reverence, respect and adoration
4. Though you remember Him everyday, but there is a special day when you abandon every other thing and worship Him.

Part 2
5. You honour and respect your parents, you take care for them when they are sick, and you provide them especially at this time
6. You will not kill your fellow human being, you would want him to live his life to the full
7. You will not commit adultery, because you love the man, you will not want to defile his wife. You love the parents, you will not want to defile their daughter
8. You will not steal, you want your neighbour to enjoy his properties
9. You will not bear false witness against your neighbours so that you will not hurt them
10. You will not covet whatever your neighbours have.

Obeying these commandments is the expression of love to our neighbours. If we love God, we will love our neighbours as summarized in (Matthew 7:12) The commandment to love is a golden rule during epidemic and pandemic. Having the desire to share what you have with others when they have needs, just as you would want others to lend a helping hand to you when you are in need. It will be wonderful if you are always thinking of helping others when it is necessary. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Romans 13:8-9. “Owe no man anything, but to love one another...” The Christian faith is a practical, personal, profitable, and permanent faith. Everything is still relevant till today. It is not fair to owe others and not pay it while you live your life lavishly. How will you feel if this happened to you? If you love your neighbours, you will pay what you are owing them. Give them respect, honour, pay back what you owe, give the gospel to sinners, you owe them this. Owe no man nothing.

When we love our fellow humans, we have fulfilled the law (I Corinthians 12:31. But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way). What is the excellent way? The excellent way in our worship, adoration, sacrifice, consecration, manifestation of gifts, interactions with other people, our life in and out of the church, at home, office, neighourhood: we are to love others genuinely.

I Corinthians 13:1-8
* 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
* 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
* 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
* 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
* 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
* 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
* 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
* 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

These verses show us how to love others. The practical way to prove our love is to persevere and be kind, to envy not, and boast not. To bear all things. To forgive easily when others offend us. We will not refuse their apologies and continue to hold grudges. Love will not think evil towards anyone.

Our love must be personal, positive, practical, profitable and purposeful (I John 3:16-18) At this crucial time, what is going on in the world should move us to show love practically by sharing what we have with others. We can also get in touch with our brethren and family members by calling them to ask after their welfare. Touch their lives, do unto them as you want others to do to you.

C. THE PRICE OF OBTAINING THE FUTURE HEAVENLY KINGDOM. Mark 12:32-34
Our Lord always say the truth because He is truth personified.
The scribe answered the question Jesus asked him very intelligently but He made him know that it was not enough to take him to the kingdom of God. We are going to look at three things here:

1. Not Far, Yet Outside The Kingdom
Some people know about repentance, righteousness, Calvary but they are yet to yield fully and make a definite decision to follow the Lord (Luke 13:3,5) If you know about repentance, you are not far from the kingdom but you need to make that definite and practical decision and take that crucial step. Until then, you are not in the kingdom (vs 24-28) There is the need to strive to enter in. Some people keep procrastinating their salvation until they lose the opportunity to get in. It is not enough to just hear the message of salvation, but making a definite decision is the ultimate.

My brother and sister, you have been hearing the word of God, have you made a definite decision? Can you point to the day, time, place where you stood up or knelt down to give your life to Jesus? Do you know it in your heart that you are His, and He is yours?

2. Very Far, And Outcast Forever. Isaiah 29:13
Some people are actually far from the kingdom of God. They do not really know the way to serve God with all their souls and minds. They pretend to know the Lord but their hearts are far from Him. If they die in this condition, they will perish (Mark 7:6-9) They are hypocrites, hence very far from the kingdom of God. They appear to know and serve the Lord, but their hearts are far from the Lord.

3. No More Far, But Citizens Of The Kingdom. Ephesians 2:8-10,13-19
This is what God wants for us. He created us for this purpose, that we will know Him so that we are restored to the relationship we lost in Adam. He wants us to love Him wholeheartedly. This situation happens when we are washed by the blood of the Lamb, sins forgiven, hearts cleansed, and we believe on Him with all our hearts. Thus, we are no more far but already in the kingdom of God. Christ broke down the wall of partition between us and God, He reconciled us to God. He made peace between us so that we are no more strangers but citizens in God’s kingdom. Taking the right step of accepting the Lord as our Saviour helps us to qualify for heaven.

And one of these days, the rapture will take place (it has not taken place yet, we are not in the great tribulation yet). One of these days, the trumpet shall sound and the dead will rise, and we which are alive will be caught up together with them. I pray you will not be far from the kingdom of God but you will be born again, saved, sanctified, recreated, redeemed and restored in the blood of the Lamb and you can say assuredly that you are a child of God.

The first commandments is to love the Lord God with all your heart, spirit, soul, strength, skill and intelligence and love your Neighbour as yourself, and believers as Christ has loved us.

After this special study, we go to show the people that we love them practically, personally, positive and in a progressive way in Jesus name.

Rise up and pray, transferring what you have learnt from your head to your heart, with the assurance that you are no more far from the kingdom of God.

GS confesses his love to us:
God bless you. I love you, and I know you love me too. One of these days, I will see you face to face. The Lord be with you and make His love established in your life and family. My love and greetings to you and your loved ones, God bless you.

MONDAY BIBLE STUDY BROADCAST
DATE: MAY 18, 2020
TEACHER: OUR FATHER IN THE LORD, PASTOR W.F. KUMUYI
TOPIC: SIGNS OF THE BEGINNING OF THE END
TEXT: MARK 13:1-8

* 1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
* 2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
* 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
* 4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?
* 5 And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:
* 6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
* 7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
* 8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

Actually, when standing on the mount of Olives at the Eastern side, you can see the temple right there. Jesus and His disciples were seated on the mount over against the temple when they asked the question. That is why in Matthew 24, this discussion between Jesus and His disciples is called the Olivet Discourse.

Peter, James, John and Andrew asked Jesus the question privately as seen in vs 4, “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?” So, in responding, Jesus spoke about the immediate, what would happen immediately after, and went to the end of the world because their questions were based on:

1. When the temple will be destroyed
2. When the end will be, and
3. The signs of the coming of the Lord

In vs 5, He warned them to take heed so that no one will deceive them because in vs 6, He said many shall come in His name. In vs 7, He said despite all these happenings, the end is yet to come. Then in vs 8 which is the concluding part of what we are studying tonight, He made them know that all those things that would happen: false prophets, deception, devastation, destruction, calamities, wars and rumours or war, international strife and conflicts, nations against nations, kingdoms against kingdoms, earthquakes in diverse places, pestilences, pandemics, famines and the troubles are all the beginning of sorrows.

This chapter 13 we are looking at tonight is very significant and it is a revelation from Christ on the consequences of the events that will be happening. The disciples were fascinated about the past and the present. In the past, they saw the temple which took 46years to complete. Historians told us that there were massive stones that were piled together with numerous decorations of gold and other precious stones. They were wondering how such gigantic edifice could be destroyed. This brought the question in their minds.

Looking at Mark 13, the prophecy covers:

* The destruction of the temple
* The dispersion of the children of Israel
* The time when the gentiles will have dominion over the children of Israel, when foreign powers, territories and empires will have control over them
* The re-gathering of the children of Israel
* The rapture of the church when the people of God will be taken away
* The great tribulation and the events that would come with it
* The second coming of Christ to establish His millennial kingdom
* The renovation of the earth giving way to the new heaven and the new earth in order to establish the everlasting kingdom.
We are looking at three points in this study:

A. THE SHOCKING BACKGROUND OF THE DISCIPLES’ DEMAND. Mark 13:1-4
In asking their question, the disciples spoke about the impressiveness of the temple building. It was indeed splendid, beautiful and eye-catching. They were calling His attention to see if He had taken time to look at the beautiful temple and wondered how such could be destroyed.

vs 2. Jesus answered that though the temple is stately, impressive and looks indestructible, yet not one stone will be left on another that shall not be thrown down. They could not imagine how that would happen. It was around AD 30-32 when this discussion took place, but about 40 years after, AD 70, General Titus with his army came from Rome and leveled the whole building. They threw in fire and the whole building was melted, softening all the joints and all those precious stones were blown off. That was exactly what Jesus said and it happened in the immediate future to that time. The other things He said that time will still come to pass.

vs 3. Have you noticed that as you read the list of the disciples in Matthew, Mark, Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, these four names: Peter, James, John and Andrew always come first? Theologians told us that these four disciples were called The Inner Circle.

These four disciples asked Jesus this question, so it was clearly an inner circle discussion. All the revelation that Jesus gave, the Pharisees and other scoffers were not there. So the disciples asked about when those things would happen and they were shocked about the things He had predicted. For example, His death. They were shocked because they thought those things will happen immediately, that was why James and John requested to sit on either side of Him in the soon-coming kingdom.

So when He spoke to them about His death, burial and resurrection, it was a shocking thing to them. Even after He rose from the dead and had appeared to His disciples through many infallible proofs, they were asking, “Will you at this time restore the kingdom unto Israel?” They never knew that thousands of years will still be between the first century, the coming of the Lord and the establishment of the kingdom.

And when He spoke about the destruction of the seemingly indestructible temple, they were shocked. They never thought that anything like that could happen. Then He spoke about the desolation and the dispersion of the children of Israel, that the enemies would come, dig trenches around them, push them to the middle and disperse them to all the parts of the world, it also came as a shock to them. And as they were thinking about these things in their hearts, they had to come to the Lord for answers.

They though the world would be forever, but when Jesus answered them otherwise, they were confused and had to ask the question (Matthew 23:37) Jesus came to take their sins away and gather them under His protection so that the eagle and wild beasts that would come will not see them, but they rejected Him and He told them that their house is left unto them desolate (vs 38) He also said they would not see Him again until they would say “blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord” (vs 39). This is when He will come again the second time because this time, they would betray, kill, bury Him, roll a stone over His sepulchres, but this would not be His end until they say blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.

The death is not one that is not pre-known by His Heavenly Father. He will die for the sins of the world and when He rises again, He would show Himself to His disciples and give them power to continue the work, establish the church and then, at the right time known unto the Father, He will come again, this is when they will say, “Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord”.
Luke 19:41-44

Initially, Jesus had talked about how the temple will be destroyed, with no stone left upon another, now He is talking about the city (vs 42) He came to them as the Prince of peace, and the one that would get them out of their torment and confusion and He would bring them the peace of the kingdom and gospel, but they did not know or accept Him.

vs 43. Here He mentioned the issue of how enemies will dig trenches around them (vs 44) Here He mentioned the scattering and devastation of the Jewish people, the dominion of the gentiles over them, the oppression and the destruction that will come upon them. Why? Not because God wanted them to suffer but it was totally a self-inflicted destruction.

ch 21:5-7. Understand that this was a prophecy at that time and it did not happen until 70AD. Matthew, Mark and Luke recorded these coming events. It is surprising that all these events Jesus talked about were already written by the Old Testament prophets, but the disciples did not know about them, otherwise, it would not have come to them as a shock.

Ezekiel 7:21-22. This talks about how the gentiles will come and devastate their land because they rejected the Saviour (Daniel 9:26-27) Daniel also spoke about this in his 70 week of prophecy. He also prophesied about how the Messiah will be killed and cut off not for Himself or any sin, iniquity or transgressions He had committed, but for the sins of the whole world. The gentiles will come and destroy the city and the sanctuary. All the activities surrounding the coming of the antichrist and his army are also mentioned here (Micah 3:12) Jerusalem shall be turned into a jungle.
Matthew 13:39-40,49-50

An end shall come to this world as said by the Lord. This idea is always looks impossible to the people of the world today (ch 16:28). Even in our own time, we need to be conscious of all these things despite the fact that everything is going on normally: the sun rising and setting everyday and we go to our business activities . Do you know that an end will come to all these things, and there will be devastation, destruction and scattering in the world? Do you know that a man is coming who will oppress the whole world? It may come to you as a shock, just as it came to the disciples of Christ.
I Peter 4:7. At this time, Peter and other apostles were no longer shocked and ignorant because they had received inspiration and knowledge by the Holy Spirit. He was using this opportunity to warn people about all the things that the Lord told them when He was here, especially the part that were yet to be fulfilled. He admonished believers to be sober and prayerful.

B. THE SEVERE BATTLE AGAINST DAMNABLE DECEPTION. Mark 13:5-6

Deception will come and we are being warned so that we will not be deceived. Jesus said there will be deception and that is what we are battling now. Everything He says is the truth because He is the personification of the revelation of God, He is the Truth. Even heaven and earth shall pass away, but none of His words shall pass away unfulfilled.

How do you detect if there is deception? (Isaiah 8:20) Any utterance not made according to the light of the gospel is deception. If those who preach and prophesy do not make their utterances according to this truth, it is because there is no light of God in them. Do not accept them.
Daniel 11:21.

Daniel prophesied about a vile person who shall stand up. The phrase, ‘shall stand up’ indicates that the event is still in the future. Many people today do not know all these truths being revealed to us. All they know is that Jesus is our Saviour, Healer, Deliverer, and Provider. They also have a vague idea of the rapture, though at times, they are not even sure. But as you look at the scriptures in support of what the prophets have written, you see that the antichrist will come as a pernicious lamb with the voice of a dragon and he will take the kingdom by flattery (deception). Religious leaders and teachers who want to be flattered will surely get flattered with devastating deception which they will not be able to wriggle out of.
vs 34. Many will abide and remain in the deception by flattery.

Jeremiah 29:8. Jeremiah also warned about the coming of false prophets just like Jesus did (Matthew 24:4) Do you ever take heed to the words of Jesus when you have the tendency to derail from the way of truth? Unfortunately many who do not have proper knowledge of the word of Jesus are not listening to Him, or reading their Bibles in order to know the truth. If the disciples who were with Jesus personally were still deceived, how much more we? (vs 24-25) We have been told about these things in scriptures, so we cannot claim ignorance. Jesus told us so, we cannot say that we do not know.

Many people, in the course of looking for miracles go here and there, they even invite other people to go and look for healing from those who claim to have cure for all manners of sicknesses, diseases, pandemic, epidemic, corona virus, etc. Jesus has warned us before! We should not be deceived. I will not be deceived!

Luke 21:8. How could it be clearer? Jesus said it over and over again. How can you be a disciple of Jesus and you will not listen to Him? You assume it cannot happen to you. That was how Peter was overconfident, disregarding the warning of Jesus and he fell. Those who are overconfident, putting their eyes, legs, and hands here and there will definitely be deceived.

Get away from sin, looks at and listen to the word of Christ, take heed so that you will not be deceived. If the time was drawing near at that time, how about now? We will not be deceived in Jesus name. Are we not seeing all that is happening around us? Is this not the pestilence Jesus mentioned even though we are calling it by a particular name? What about the earthquakes, tornadoes, the tsunamis, are these not telling us that the time is drawing near? Do not go after these deceivers, you will not be deceived in Jesus name. Amen.

II Peter 2:1-3. There were false prophets in the Old Testament, during the times of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Moses, Ezekiel, Daniel and Hosea. They will also be there in the future, that is, this our present time. We will not follow them. The Lord is telling us that these prophecies are being fulfilled in our own time.

Let us take up some ideas from the prevention of this devastating disease: corona virus that is devastating the whole world. We have our own personal responsibility as well as collective responsibility. If we are going to be free from deception as we are free from disease,

* Deception
* Doctrines of the devil
* Damsels of death. They dress so well and captivatingly that you may not know them for whom they are. You will not be fascinated by evil.
* Dominion of darkness. You have to keep your distance from them so that you will not be sucked in. To be free from destruction, you need to stay safe, alive, sound and healthy, just as you are required to wear a face mask and keep away from people. Do not allow anything to bring you under deception and error.

II Timothy 4:1-2,6,15-16. The latter time is the time we are in now. We are to put the brethren in good remembrance of all the warnings Jesus has given us so that they will not be carried away by deception. Take heed because all that Jesus said will actually happen. Meditate on these words and get yourself ready so that you will be able to save yourself and all around you.
vs 16. Take heed to yourself and the doctrines of Christ, the revelation of Christ that

* Jerusalem will be leveled - it happened;
* That the children of Israel will be scattered - it happened,
* That the temple will be devastated and destroyed- it happened;
* That the time of the gentiles, when they will dominate the Israelites- it happened;

* Then the re-gathering of the children of Israel, when the fig trees will begin to bud again. Jesus said this generation will not pass until those things come to pass. Meditate on those things and get yourself prepared for the coming of the Lord.
We are to take heed to the doctrines in order to save ourselves and those around us. May none of us be taken unawares in Jesus name. If we will not be taken unawares, what is going to happen then?

II Thessalonians 3:3-12. This warning that we should not allow any man to deceive us resonates through the old and New Testament, from the prophets to the apostles.

The antichrist will call himself God. If you have been listening to messages on eschatology, you need to take heed and take those messages as a serious warning. Because the church, the light of the world is still in the world, that is why the antichrist has not come.

How is he going to be so successful in deceiving so many people? He will bring power, signs and lying wonders (vs 9) Those who refuse to hear the truth will be deceived, and they will believe a lie. All they want is cheap miracles, they are not interested in being saved (vs 10) They all, no exception, preacher and hearers, ministers and members, the deceivers and the deceived will be damned (vs 11-12).

C. SORROWFUL BEGINNINGS WITH DEVASTATING DESTRUCTION. Mark 13:7-8

“... such things must needs be ...” Can I lend you some wisdom? Many people erroneously concentrate their prayers on - things that must happen, that will happen - that they will not be happen. Jesus said, you will hear of wars and rumours of war... There are people who will pray that there will be no war. Some will pray, pray, and pray that there will be no rumours of war, whereas, Jesus said such things need to happen.

‘... but the end shall not be yet”. This means that there are things that will still happen after the wars and rumours of war, perplexing things that will trouble the minds of the people. Kingdoms shall rise against kingdoms. Jesus said all the things He said will not pass away though heaven and earth pass away. These are not conditional but absolute prophecies, these are what will take place.

Jesus said these happenings point to one thing: that the end is very near, and these things are happening in quick successions, they are the beginning of sorrows. That is, you may be hearing about calamities of all sorts, national and international conflicts, natural disasters, pandemic, epidemic, famines, the distress of nations, in diverse places, all are just the beginning of sorrow. There will full blown devastation later.

So, if the beginning of sorrows is as serious as this, how will it be when the worldwide destruction will come? The beginning of sorrows can be compared to when a pregnant woman is to have her baby, the pain starts so small at lengthy intervals, but it will increase in intensity and become more frequent until it becomes very severe (Jeremiah 30:6-7; 4:19-22) The devastation and evil will come upon this people because they will not listen to warnings (vs 31) As the Lord reveals these things to us, we will remain ready for His coming in Jesus name (Jeremiah 13:21) The time of the great tribulation is a time of punishment of the whole world.

When the leaders of the world will be assuring their people of peace, promising them peace and safety, holding national and international peace meetings, then, sudden destruction comes upon them as birth pains upon a pregnant woman in labour, and they shall not escape. (I Thessalonians 5:3).
Revelation 6:1-8. In vs 2, we see the picture of one holding a bow. Ideally, anyone holding a bow must have an arrow to shoot, but here, there is none, whereas, he has a crown given to him, “and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.” This is the peace the antichrist will bring at the beginning as he rides into the communities and nations of the world, telling them his bow has no arrow. By this deception, he conquers them all.

vs14-17. Those people who refused the love and redemption of the Saviour will face His wrath. The antichrist has a short time, so he comes in great wrath and will bring destruction, devastation, diseases, calamities, etc upon the world. Apart from this, God Himself declares His wrath upon the world, and who will be able to stand?

In all of these, what do you do and how are you able to protect yourself? How do you get ready so you do not get deceived?
Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away). The Lord has told you what will happen as we come to the end of the age, note it in your heart, mark it in your Bible that none of the words of the Lord will pass unfulfilled.

vs 34. Take heed to yourself. Do not spend all the time watching over other people, or your children, at the neglect of your soul (vs 35) Jesus said the great tribulation will not be localized, it will not affect just continent but it will happen on the face of the whole earth.

vs 36. Watch everybody, and pray so you will be counted worthy to stand before the Son of man. What is the Lord saying as we conclude our Bible study tonight?

Be ready. Be saved, sanctified and secure:

Check up on your salvation, eternal life and your connection and relationship with the Lord.
Be ready. Be responsible, righteous and rapturable:
Do not be irresponsible, acting anyhow, going and jumping anyhow here, there, into the fire. Be responsible.
Be ready. Be watchful, waiting, worthy and witnessing:
May the Lord preserve and count us worthy to be with Him at the end. Amen.
We have begun the study today on the signs of the beginning of the end time. As the Lord is revealing all these things to us, let us pray so that each of us will watch, keep waiting and witnessing while we are waiting and be worthy to be in His presence on the final day. Amen.

#Prayer:

Pray that the Lord Himself will keep you watching and waiting and worthy.
Please pray for our Pastor that he will not be tired or weary, but that the source of his inspiration and anointing will not run dry.
Amen and Amen
