Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos governor, says all
hands are now on the deck as his government has
received extensive support from the inspector
general of police, Mohammad Adamu, to "address
the increase in armed robberies and unrest in
boundary communities." Legit.ng earlier reported that communities in Lagos witnessed unrest as suspected hoodlums armed with different kinds of weapons invaded Mangoro, Ogba, Agege, Iyana Ipaja and Dopemu
areas.
Food items, money and other valuables were carted
away amid growing coronavirus scare, heavily
leaving the affected communities in anxiety.
Addressing the insecurity problems in the state
during a meeting with the top echelon of security
agencies on Tuesday, April 14, Governor Sanwo-
Olu said he has "received increased help from the
IG of Police with a special force already addressing
the elements breaching the peace in the affected communities." "We have the responsibility of ensuring the security
of the lives and properties of all residents in Lagos.
We will not abandon this responsibility at any time,"
the governor said.
"We will definitely see an increase in mobile police
deployment in all trouble spots across the
metropolis. "Our security agencies will intensify their patrols
around residential areas, boundary communities
and other critical areas of activity during this
lockdown period. "I urge all residents to cooperate with them and
thank you for your resilience during this
extraordinary time."
