COVID-19: Abia Yet To Receive Any Support From FG - Ikpeazu by BleedingPen(op): 2:06pm On Apr 20, 2020
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State says the state government is yet to receive any support from the Federal Government in the fight against COVID-19 in the Southeastern state.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Monday, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu, the state Commissioner for Information, urged residents to ignore any report that says otherwise.

“Please ignore the sponsored lies and propaganda from those who live by propaganda,” the Commissioner said.

He said all efforts made so far to cushion the effects of the lockdown and prevent outbreak of the pandemic in the state were products of the state government.

The Commissioner said Abia was among the four states listed but yet to benefit from the Federal Government’s National Social Investment Program (NSIP).

“All the palliative food distribution done in Abia State as well as the construction of new
isolation centers are projects of Abia State Government led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

“Our state has also not received any money from the social investment fund as we are among the four states yet to benefit.”

He added that the state government is responsible for the construction of the new Isolation Centre in Ogbor Hill, Aba and not the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as being alleged.

“That project is 100 per cent funded by Abia State Government and we hope to hand over the facility to Abia State University Teaching Hospital afterwards. No single living Abian is contributing one kobo to the construction and equipping of the new isolation center. It is the same for the others previously readied by the administration.

“Abia State Government led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu is investing all the resources required in preparing our isolation centres, provision of PPEs, ventilators etc for the safety and protection of our people against coronavirus.

“No single grain of rice or any other food stuff has been received by the state from the federal government as rumored by same propagandists. Abia State Government procured the rice and other foodstuff distributed to the needy through the churches and added the 850 bags of rice donated by Prof Greg Ibe. So far, we have procured more than 8,000 bags of 50kg rice and other items such as beans, yam, face masks, hand sanitizers etc. We have also distributed the 2,000 cartons of Indomie donated by our brother Chrisnak.

“Distribution of palliatives to our people will continue today and run throughout the lockdown period. Aside from Churches, we are also distributing through the state’s geriatric services agency, traditional rulers and presidents general of communities in our state,” the statement added.

The federal government should not send any money to Ikpeazu for Covid 19. He is not trustworthy. He will steal half and use the other half to buy kerosene.

They ain't parasites.. they're doing just fine

despite contributing huge to the national purse, they're given meagre nuts compared to parasitic northern States.

see the so-called federal government cash transfer how many southern States even the ones with severe issues of covid have benefited from it?

it's only north!!

that's why the sickness of the Egyptians continues to dwell with them..parasites.

Pls, what is the IGR of all eastern states from which they contribute this "huge" to national purse?

Kano alone more than Enugu and Anambra combined, while Kaduna beats the combination of imo and abia.

Even Borno is ahead of Ebonyi. So where is this "huge" amount they contribute to national purse? huh

Do you know that we in East pays tax? Each car we import we pay customs duty to the Federal government. Imagine paying 400 to 800k per each car cleared in.

We also pay via stamp duties, import duties, indirect taxes from goods imported into the country etc.

the south, carries the whole of Nigeria on it back.. despite whatever they make, they still contribute hugely to the national coffers..

the north is always selfish, whatever it makes remains with them.. if the north had oil a major lifeline to the country,Nigeria would've been a thing of the past..
The igbos / south east constitute the majority of foreign businesses...

will you pretend, not to knòw that importation goes along with payment
of import duties, taxes and others?..The south east takes less from the federal coffers.. how many times have you heard, of F.G. special intervention in east, as They always do for the north?..that's another contribution..
do you know the revenues generated in business hubs like Aba,Onitsha and the likes of them and how much is being paid as taxes which the FG has it's share?

what does the arid north ever contribute ?monetarily or other wise!

Stop writing irrelevant epistle.

The thread is about Ebonyi and you jumped into my mention telling me the south East contribute hugely to the national purse. I have shown you the IGR of states, in which 3 northern states beat the entire SE in IGR. Now you are talking about South generally. Stop lumping the whole South, concentrate on your region which you claim contributes hugely to the national purse.

Now from the picture below, explain to me how huge the contribution of SE is to the federal coffers.
