People often pray when things are challenging and tough. I notice that while I was praying I was also indirectly reflecting on my situation. If there is something one can do to help themselves, one does it. If one has done all they can, they then “leave the rest to god”. In my opinion, they just say that to reassure themselves that they have done all they can.

This in no way proves that a god or gods favors us in any way. It’s quite selfish and self centered to think that ones personal situation will somehow be positively influenced by a devine entity without also recognizing that said entity lets so many others in that exact situation perish. These others are no more or less deserving of relief than us.

Religions have claimed a monopoly on the human mind and emotion for too long. I for one am glad to be free of these superstitions. Especially the one founded on the torture and human sacrifice of an “innocent” man. What a disgusting theology.

To add on that selfish and self centered outlook of prayer, Sam Harris talks of prayer being of double standard.
As you pray that your son be spared during heart surgery, the donor is praying his life is spared.
Better analogy is, praying for your particular team to win, therfore the other must loose definitely.

So according to you, you have finally discovered that hell doesn't exist?

Or you have convinced yourself of the sort?
