You are not seeing the bigger picture, i get her point and it may be a problem in the nearest future.. That is why America feels fly,because of the one time they saved the world(the atomic detonation in hiroshima nagasaki that ended world war II)

What's the bigger picture compared to saving lives? Any country can produce the vaccine and take the glory, the UK is no exception.
