Mombasa has for now forever overtake combined two Lagos port - Apapa and Tin can - and is at 35M tonnes per year and 1.4M containers - aiming for Durban - who does 72M tonnes - and 2.7M containers annually. SGR has made Mombasas very efficient - is starting to compete with Durban and likes of Singapore on efficiency...a ships docks and within a few hours..has it's cargo evacuated to Nairobi..some 500kms!!

Mombasa port last year crossed revenues about 0.5B dollars.

Meanwhile a container in Lagos port - takes a whole month to navigate out of the port. The ship similarly takes a month to empty the container. The congestions and efficiency is, without doubt, the world worst.
