SWITZERLAND, APRIL 30 – The World Health Organization(WHO) has appointed the Director of Nigeria’s National Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu as an adviser to its newly constituted International Health Regulations (IHR) 3rd Emergency Committee for COVID-19.

This was contained in a statement the WHO sent to Today’s Echo on Thursday after the inauguration of the special committee.

“Further to our previous email announcing today’s convening of the Emergency Committee under the International Health Regulations (IHR) regarding the outbreak of COVID-19, please find a link to a list of Committee members and advisors,” the statement reads.

Today’s Echo gathers that the emergency committee is chaired by Dr Didier Houssin, President AP-HP International, Subsidiary of Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, France

“As previously communicated, the Committee’s statement will be issued Friday 1 May during the regularly scheduled virtual press conference, planned for 17:00 CEST. Dial-in details will be sent tomorrow, 1 May, ahead of the VPC(Press Conference),” WHO added.
