I am a married woman with kids, my children are not so grown as my eldest is 8 years old. We had a nanny who has stayed with us for almost four years. She left three months ago because the economic situation got to our house and we agreed to let her go. Besides, her school fees was getting harder to pay coupled with that of my kids.  The problem now sir is that my husband now expects me to do all the work she used to do and always complains that the house is dirty and not arranged. He does not help out at all. Please what do i do?

Tell him the areas you would be happy if he could gradually start helping out with. No aggression, no insults, no double talk just plain old conversation. If this does not work, s.....

Well,

The job of a wife is way broader than chores.

Even if the nanny did all the chores (which I doubt), she can't do the duties of the wife & mother of the home.

ma, let me indulge you as we list all the chores ; washing cloths, plates, sweeping, mopping the floors, scrubbing the toilet, bathing the kids, dressing them up, ironing the clothes/uniforms, going to the market, baby sitting, cutting the vegetables, blending the orishirishi---->househelp does these. Putting together the condiments in the pot, homework, school runs, morning devotional, bedroom duties-----> madam does these... That is if she even does all these. I don't see a balance. I get your point but I do not think it's fair that a maid slave away, she is human too.

If the husband was also thoughtful enough to know that nanny is no longer around, he doesn't need to be told before he starts to pickup stuff.

They will be alright Las Las.

It’s best you adjust till you can get a replacement and even if your husband doesn’t accept for you to get a replacement you still have to adjust nonetheless.

It’s your home and you’re in charge of it. It’ll initially be strenuous but you’d find your rhythm and balance eventually.

Start with listing the chores or outlining them mentally. Take it one day at a time and get your children to begin to clean up after themselves little by little.

Ask your spouse for assistance in the heavy areas for eg fetching water if applicable

Plan yourself a bit more. It’s not the end of the world and you can surely pull through.

Let us hear from the man's side cos u women can paint story 2 suit yourself.

I suspect the man left the chores to her because she was the one dt orchestrated her moving out of the house.
