As d type of real estate we practice in Lagos is not in phc, one had to survive, so teaching was readily available so I took it up. yes I am still young in my early thirties, but unfortunately the disease came knocking on time. I applied as a teacher and our bargain was #45000, I was supposed to teach grade 5, but I was given grade 4&5 to teach, also added to it was admin job, to manage their online platform and all. Fast forward to the end of the month, the owner of the school finds paying u salary as doing u a favor, I opted to resign, he begged paid me and I stayed.

Due to corona virus pandemic we were told to shut down, he promised to pay for march through our accounts. Please note he is aware of my health condition I am diabetic, I buy my drugs every month end. March ended he didn't pay, until towards the end of April, he called for a meeting due to my health condition i didn't go, of which Isn't sent proof to him on whatsapp, I also encouraged them to have the meeting online because of the present lockdown of the state. He started calling me, I then sent him a message that I had issues with my the mouthpiece of my fone, that if he doesn't mind we can talk on whatsapp, he didn't reply. After the meeting I chatted up some colleagues, they told me he was telling them about online teaching, to keep the school going, I asked details and also gave my suggestions on his it will run. mind you I suggested the online teaching to him, before he called for the meeting which I couldn't go.

Just yesterday he paid every other person except me, I called with a neighbor's phone and he said to me that since I couldn't come for the meeting my money is gone. This is march salary we are talking about.

Before we vacated I did all my job for the next term, he is seizing my salary because of a meeting.

I am a sick person, due to lack of money I couldn't get my drugs for April, presently I am very sick as at 3days ago my sugar level was reading 185mg/dl. I have begged he refused to pay.

Please I need any competent human right lawyer to help me shake him. Right now I am stranded. My husband has been out of job for a long time I have been the one supporting him with this little pay.

with all of these I have sacked myself before he does, all I need is money for my drugs.

Ma'am, sorry 4 ur health condition right now. I'll advice u go with ur husband 2 hear his reasons first. U can also record ur discussion with him, without his knowledge. If he refuses to comply, write the educational management board within ur area or parents teachers association- the chairman, to seek help.

U shld also improve urself grammatically.

If you really need that money so urgently, you may need to reconsider your approach. Litigation can be costly, especially as it relates with you. You need the money not next year but now. So reconsider, maybe appeal to his/her pride if you haven't, and if you have, do again. Engage people he respects. The parents of the students, the teachers, to reach out on your behalf. But then again, your employer seem like an inconsiderate person, opportunistically exploitative and you sound like ASUU or some union president; who won't be self-deprecating. I am sure you have been confrontational but he/she is not acquiescing. Just know, if you continue down the path, it may take time. Find another source to see to your health first. Wishing you the best whatever step you take.

My emphasis was on time, not financial. And where did you get the nonsense that human right lawyers don't charge? It is only probono service that don't charge, some may provide legal help without a fee, or work on behalf of an organization, some organizations such as legal aid, JEI, hurilus may help if there is clear abuse of her right and if it is obvious she cannot afford a legal representative . There is no clear human right abuse in this case. This is labor law, not your conventional law; it will be under the jurisdiction of National industrial court, which will refer her back even.

Owing to your health condition, i dont think you should involve the human rights people now. Just go beg and reason with your employer he would understand. We dont know his reasons for withholding your pay Maybe you are the stubborn one. A little humility will help try it!

1: You couldn't go to meeting because of your health condition , this is total acceptable
2: You couldn't answer his call because your phone mouthpiece was faulty right ? Why not use your husband phone or your neighbor's phone to call him back asap or within that period ?
It's when everyone receives Alert and you didn't got yours , you then remember that your neighbor has a phone

Let me tell you the only way in which you can get that March salary is by keeping quiet and hope that he will one day change his mind,
But if make any mistake by making trouble with him , your chance of getting that money will be ZERO

You can never get that March salary by making trouble simple !

Go to Alausa Ikeja secretariat ministry of Justice and human rights and summit a petition. Hell be summoned but it takes a process that could last weeks. So the earlier you go the better. Hopefully you'll get a lawyer.
