Is very unfortunate that the correspondent who said that Airpeace and Innoson were given monopoly their respective sectors to render services by the then Dr. Jonathan was very very wrong and misinformed. When you come to aviation, Airpeace was never given a monopoly because we have other competitors Nigeria and foreign airlines lyk Max air, BA, Delta, Emirates, arik, etc and under that administration it took 2 solid years for Airpeace to get approval from the federal govt of Dr. Jonathan. Pls be informed before you spit out any information. Thank

My problem with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is that he talks about too many irrelevant things without saying anything of value to the cause of Ndi Igbo. He talks like like a thug.

He needs to talk intellectually about critical developmental issues. He needs to focus more on the key policy ideas, initiatives, programs and strategy that IPOB intends to implement differently to make South East economically prosperous and politically stable as opposed from what current set of governors are doing. That's what is relevant now if he is serious about getting widespread support.

He should quit engaging in unnecessary attacks on personalities including those who have nothing against his IPOB goals.

That's definitely not a correct assertion bro. Dangote started his tomato puree importation business in the late 70s while the Nigerian national supply company (with warehouses in Iyana Isolo and Ikorodu) and other private companies were importing ship loads of rice and what were termed "esssential commodities" into the country.

Corruption led to the closure of the then NNSC and Babangida in 1985 stopped what was called open general import using form "m" by the CBN and introducing the import license regime. It was a policy designed to curtail importation of rice and other essential commodities like milk, sugar, cement, flour and tyres. Import license was hijacked by certain high and mighty military men and politicians. Infact a lot of people became rich selling import licenses. You can check that.

Connections with the military and policy changes threw up people like Dangote and Mike Adenuga in the late 80s. Retired Major General Alani Akinrinade's son led Adenuga to Babangida, who developed friendship and trust with Adenuga in 1979 - 1980. That friendship with Badangida got military contracts for Adenuga, building military barracks, and plenty of money. Adenuga was able in the late 80s to acquire the defunct national bank with his money and the rest became history. All these are open secrets bro. Sorry I digressed there.

Nobody knew the name Dangote as his maternal name Dantata was the known name. We started hearing his name in the 90s as his connections with the military became stronger.

Obasanjo might have given him some priviledges, but come to think about it, with money in your hands and connections, you can get power and make more wealth. That's what he did just like others.

Adenuga and Alakija (supreme stitches with Babangida) had certain priviledges too just like Igbo names like Prince Arthur Eze and Orji Uzor Kalu. Babangida and Abacha were the keys used by those men to open the doors of wealth and not Obasanjo. The same went with Emeka Ofor who rose to wealth using his connection with the late Abacha's also late first son, Danjuma.

Those who kept away from political offices became wealthier while those who got political offices had their fingers burnt.

Nnamdi Kanu just exposed himself as a very bad student of Nigerian history. His desire to make wealth and fame for himself has blinded him to the truth about Dangote and other prominent Nigerian businessmen.

I do recall one of my friends asking him outrightly during one of his lectures how he managed to monopolize so many sectors of the economy and if hope exists future entrepreneurs who might want to rival him in the production of some of his produce. His answer was no more than what you wrote. "Look at government policy and use it to your advantage".
By the way, he denies having monopolized any sector at all. "Dangote does not practice monopoly", I recall hearing him say.
