Supported fully.

I will never give to strangers. They have an entitlement mentality. They believe you have that's why you give and they have a right to it.

Imagine even trying to start stealing from her personal things. Because after all she " has".

Public giveaway is nothing but scam to reasonable people who understands the concept of generosity and helping.

There's always a hidden motive behind anyone who does giveaway publicly. Quote me anywhere.

It's either for clout, to buy love, to buy loyalty, to gain favors from some persons within or a business strategy.

Behind everyone doing giveaway, there's this a friend on his/her contact list who's desperately in need of help. There's this family member, either from the mother's side or father's side who's in need and perishing looking for help.

But NO! They'll not help those needy family members, but will prefer to come to the public, chase clout with the less privileged and snap pictures or go to social media, chase clout, buy fake love to look generous.

Whatever is it, this woman experienced. I don't care, because if everyone should focus on their family members, maternal cousins and paternal siblings, there won't be needy people in the public for these clout chasers to use.

People should say no to fake public accolades from strangers who truly doesn't give a fvck about their existence and and focus on people in their family tree and people around them. They'll appreciate the more.
You have said the truth and nothing but the truth. I have been out of work for a couple of months now but my own ppl are busy doing same for cheap popularity.

AJ sent lots of food - rice, beans, semolina - to Fela Shrine to be shared around few days ago. From my estimation the rice should be 10kg, beans 10kg and 2 sachets of semolina 1kg which should be around #1500, #1000 and #800 respectively in open market.

To my astonishment, most of the recipients sold the 3-combo pack #500 to a man parked few metres away.

Some companies and individuals have been sharing stuffs to alleviate people's suffering but all ends up in fights, disruption of the process and wastage of the items.

G...n lotto gave 100 bags of rice and other foodstuffs to a community, some elders connived to share only 50 bags keeping the remaining to themselves; the youths of the area have been at loggerheads with the elders and food left undistributed for over 2wks now.

It is hardwired into the Naija psyche - mentality is fuccd.

Of course, everyone takes care of their families first before drifting out to others, only an exhibitionist or pretentious person with false attitude(s) wouldnt

Who if/when in Naija hasnt encountered them?. Of course, I've had unsavoury memories and it's no lol matter

I recall encountering them at MMIA, one tout trolley handler without giving us change back, abandoned his trolley with us disappeared into thin air, whilst we weren't looking, with our ₦500 or was it ₦1000 banknote sef. Another encounter was, at Lagos Island, actually right inside Oluwole car park, whilst trying to find a place to park and then let my missus and her sister get out to walk the rest to Balogun Market for getting a couple of Brazillian hair etcetera. They buy in boxes, stock up and share among themselves as in meaning with other sisters

The theory here is, if everyone is giving their family, there would be no one for people like this woman to use for clout. I like to think the needy in our circle would never get exhausted, so they can be lifetime beneficiaries of our individual giveaways.

They are everywhere, especially for Lagos. I know people that will say they can never go to 85% of the mainland, lol.

This is a really silly take. Whatever her intentions are, it does not take away the fact that there are people who need the help. Do you think the beggar on the street cares why you're giving him/her money. That one is your own business. They just want help, that's all.

You are here, trying to defend bad behaviour by attacking the obvious victim. You think they would stop there? They would attack both those doing giveaway and those doing their own business before moving to attacking people in their houses. But no, stay there feeling bitter at people that are charitable for whatever reasons. You think if the crowd comes for you, they'd give you exceptions for not doing giveaway.
Thank you very much for stating my mind precisely. God bless you.

You get it sis. The gap between the rich and the poor is too much and we would soon be faced with a very dangerous situation.

Last week I noticed lots of young men begging on the streets of Lekki. I was about dismissing it as lockdown situation, but my security man told me not to encounter them at night. They metamorphose from needy beggars to intimidating looters. As in, they block your car and collect whatever they want or whatever you willingly give. Whichever comes first and is better. Something is wrong with my country people.

Wow, I am not surprised. The bold had to take me back to a gender beef I once had with a female nairalander on a thread (5 reasons why men commit suicide more than women... Something like that).

See, I am not saying men won't fall victims to these guys, but they would at all times prefer a soft target..

"Now, the words below were part of my reply to the female.

Please, allow me to use common sense to tell you what will happen when you empower a female child over a male child. Yes, after empowering her, she will have the juicy job, be more classy and a strong independent woman. As for the male child he would grow to become a young, maybe uneducated and can be an easy recruit for a rebel group. No peace for anybody then, if they are not commiting suicide then they'll be killing each other in a hood war for money and power, or join Boko Haram, RUF, Niger delta militia. Agberos go plenty then to harass those pretty working class ladies everywhere. It will be so sickening.

Reasons why Nigeria can never be sane or get better. Its one thing you try to steal the food items but its another thing when you now want to steal the same people who brought you food, their phones and and personal belongings. Its completely wrong and pure evil heart when someone tries to extend a brotherly love while the receivers are planning unbrotherly harms. You try to help someone give them a ride, for their own mind, na how to corner the car dey their mind. See that one that kidnap students and killed three? To what end? You provide jobs, one is trying to fraud the company even better, conspired to get you fired. Treat them right at workplace but na them wan eliminate you to get your position (this one plenty for civil service ehn)

Its why the nation seems to never progress, no matter the billions you put in. Really sad.

No one is empowering ladies, definitely not on a scale to cause much imbalance that fosters so much crime in Nigeria. Last time I checked, the girls are on IG shaking their naked bum and breast. Nigeria needs a total overhaul of its value system.

Most people believe the only way to achieve anything in life is to outsmart the next person(not necessarily be smarter). That's why there are more fraudsters and sex peddlers around these days. Even ordinary queue they'd still find a way to jump.
Hopefully things will get better soon.

She didn't organize the giveaway properly. Wtf was she thinking opening up her car for those vultures to dive in and loot everything inside? You just don't park at the road side and say you want to do giveaway, how do you intend to reach your target recipients? She should have met with CDA leaders and who will help in organizing the giveaway. They know those truly in need and will help keep the mob in check. My area's CDA shared relief materials to the less privileged in the area and it was very organized. They went round the homes and shops of the needy to share the items rather than creating a central collection point where mobs will come to fight and loot.

That said, this goes to show how crazy a lot of Nigerians are especially the poverty ridden ones. Are they only poor people in the world? There are many other countries with poorer citizens but you will never see them acting like barbarians or trying to swindle you or steal from you. TBH there's something fundamentally wrong with a lot of Nigerians.
You couldn't have said it better. Well said.

Africa is about the biggest recipient of giveaways. grin grin

What is all this relative talk sef. How did the concept of village people come about? Isn’t it from people who got burned after going back home to share bread or money? Isn’t that why some people abroad refuse to come back home and visit their villages?

So why are we acting like family/friends haven’t done worse to people. Are these people not someone’s family member(s)?

I think the best thing is everybody should hold their money. You no even owe anybody.

Mentioning 'village people' in a condescending manner only shows you have lost touch with the reality of your roots only to embrace a pseudo semi culture of the European countries. In London we have people who will act as such, even in God's own enclave USA you will still get uncultured people who will act as such. Do always remember to note there are uncultured people in every society and free your village people. Nice talking to you NLs itibolibo.

Family members will always be there u can never satisfy them enough or get rid of them, they will always benefit from u from time to time if u are a good person bt that doesn't mean u can't give to strangers if it's within ur means, sm strangers will even appreciate than an family members uve been helping for years. I only agree that many of these people don't even give to their frnds or other people they know personally even when they ask or they are aware they need bt jump on social media and public places to chase clout.

It's very disgraceful and hypocritical... They may have other reasons maybe for such behaviour, like terrible family or frnds I don't understand.

The woman's decision to provide palliatives is commendable and the action of the mob is regrettable. However, the woman actually strereotyping the whole Ikorodu people (who are in millions or at least thousands) and asking people not to go there to provide palliatives really showed her real intention for providing the paliatives in the first place. It appears she was doing it as a showoff. If she was doing it because she really had pity for the people, she wouldn't have asked others not to help the people. It appears to be a case of 'nobody should help because I failed to get the respect and attention that I really craved for'.
