The Role Religion Can Play In Curbing Coronavirus In Nigeria by Emmaximus(op): 8:33pm On May 06, 2020
In times of crisis, faith can be a source of huge personal comfort and community resilience.

Leaders in Nigeria are grappling with faith in their messaging on COVID 19 the potentially deadly disease that is spreading rapidly throughout the country.

While many state governors have taken strigent measures to slow the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus not all religious leaders agree with the banning of church assemblies.

While some of our religious leaders have aline their policies with medical experts and agreed to postpone religious gathering. But others hve involved religions idiology to confront the virus, assuring followers that faith in God offers adequate protection.

Religion plays a major role in a country like Nigeria where church and mosque gatherings is a consistent part of everyday life.

As it is now all religious gathering as been ban by the federal government, as much as I would want to agree with that as a strigent measure to curb the spread of COVID 19 I think the government is wrong on this one. Nigerians believe in God, they believe there's a diety (God) up there that listens and answer when they call upon Him.

ND there are evidences in history to back up the statement above. I remember many years ago when a tyrant named Gen. Sani Abacha ruled Nigeria with an iron fist, Nigerians came together in spite of their religious and doctrinal differences and cried out to God for help, we all knowThe results of the prayers.

I think it high time the government lift the ban on religious centers. Last week a powerful man of God in the country (Apostle Johnson Sulaiman) said that the government should allow pastors into the isolation center to pray for those infected and that God will heal them. I concur with the man of God because these are men that have a tract record of healing miracles that have accompany their ministry.

The only way out of this is God, and shutting religious center will not help at all, you can imagine banks and other cooperate companies are allow to open but our place of worship are still shut and some Nigerians are happy that our place of worship are closed.

I want every religious out there to party for mercy for Nigeria, blood of the innocent are sheared every day and the wrath of God is the manifestation is what we are seeing now, I believe if we pray God will hear us and heal our land.amen

Over the past few years, the Nigerian church has grown strong. So has their mumu and noisemaking.

When I was little, church was on a Sunday. That was all. The rest of the week was for you and your family; the pastor also had to go to work for his family too. Churches were few, and useful.

Now I don old, church dey everywhere. The society has gotten worse but they say we should blame government. Their job is to make noise daily, every fucking day, with their broken loudspeakers and megaphones.

Clubs and churches would do battle on Friday nights; who go attract crowd pass? Then the Corona came, and now we have peace.

There's been peace on our street these past few days. I can feel my mental well being improving. I can finally appreciate the quietness of a cool evening, without any activity. A dull atmosphere has helped my head.

I hope the people of God will find freedom from these arrogant sons of bitches masquerading as Messengers of God. I hope the people of God realize one day that God is loving-kindness, not noise and prayer points.

I hope the people of God realize their role in society, and their role in creating a good society.

May the lessons of the Corona be with us this Palm Sunday. Hail the Rona.

Kano would soon lift the lockdown. Aposto Suleiman can find his way there.

ANOTHER SHOW OF INCOMPETENCE AND CLUELESSNESS FROM OUR GOVERNMENT AS USUAL, WASTING MONEY AND TIME WHEN THE MEN OF GOD ARE READY TO MOVE IN AND PUT ALL THIS TO AN END.

I think this is a great idea. Pastors should be allowed into isolation centers(without wearing any PPE by the way), and camp out with the patients, praying night and day for their healing. grin

Sure, Pastors should volunteer their religious centers as isolation centers so those of their members who contract the virus can move into the churches to be locked-in and prayed for, night and day by their pastors who will be equally locked-in with them(NO PPE).

The wrath of God ke? Are you suggesting that God is responsible for the Chinese spill over of the Coronavirus onto the rest of the world? You seriously want to blame this on God, and not leave it with man and his scientific ego? undecided undecided undecided
