Yoruba Politics And Oil Corporation In Nigeria by reality1010(op): 5:42pm On May 07, 2020
Since yesterday my neighbor has been annoyed and pouring vituperation on the Yorubas over what he described as oil politics in Nigeria. Douglas who hails from kalabari wonders why the Yorubas v taken commanding positions in all the oil companies especially SPDC. To him it has affected the commitment of these corporation in setting up a COVID 19 infrastructures in the oil producing areas where these companies earn billions and trillions of dollars through oil exploration. As ide from River State that just got a little gift from Shell Petroleum Development Corporation which came after much talk and threat from the Governor others v not made any contribution all due to the Yoruba politics in oil companies that exploit the SS/SS/SE. As far as the Yoruba people r holding commanding positions in these oil corporations our people will never get jobs there and the oil companies will never move their headquarters to the oil producing areas. The most annoying part is the abuse we receive from these people when they tell people that the oil producing communities are lazy and lack skills to fill in the required spaces they want. Until the oil producing communities r only allowed to occupy commanding positions in oil companies the politics will continue.

Not our business.

Your were sold a lie in 1967 that the Biafran struggle for independence was not a fight for survival against marauding Jihadists and their cunning collaborators. You believed.

They told you Ojukwu want your oil, even when eastern region under Micheal Okpara was making giant strides with proceeds from palm oil, you agreed.

They promised that you will be protected from greedy Igbos, you agreed.

They asked you to open your land so that your brothers whom you have lived in peace for years will be wiped off the face of the earth, you agreed.

After the war they carve out oil rich part of Igbo land and dash you as reward for cooperation. You smiled and made merry.

50 years down the line your resources are firmly in the hands of those you handed it over to. Those you trust more than the greedy Igbos.

Enter any NNPC quarters either in Abuja or Kaduna, and you will weep for Niger Delta.

Don't lump us together in your pity party. Yes we care about the injustices against you but we are a bigger victim of your inability to see the bigger picture.

All I can say is GOOD MORNING.

Tell them the truth. Biafra and Ojukwu needed thier oil. That's why you massacre them when they refuse you.

To understand the divergent attitudes of the minorities to the Biafran secession, an examination of oral histories from people who occupied positions of authority during the war as well as from ordinary people is necessary. The Ikun in the present day Cross River State presents a good example of the crimes committed against the minorities.

The Ikun clan is in the Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State. The people share a common boundary with the Ohafia, an Igbo clan, in the present day Abia State. When the war broke out, Biafra stationed some of its troops in the Cross River region, including Ikun. According to a female survivor-victim of the Biafran occupation, the Ikun initially supported Biafra and had friendly relations with the soldiers, who were also accommodating. As time went on,. tensions emerged.

Some Ikun men were suspected of collaborating with Nigerian soldiers. This led to arrests, looting, rapes, and other atrocities in Ikun
land. William Norris of the London Times who visited Biafra, also reported an eye￾witness account in which some men of Ibibio ethnic origin were beaten to death at Umuahia on April 2, 1968.

These Ibibios who included old men and young men were apparently suspected of collaborating with advancing Nigerian troops. They were reportedly frog-marched across an open space while the local people attacked them with sticks and clubs. Oral testimony by the survivor-victim corroborates

To the OP..whether you get top position or not..ideally what you people should be agitating from the operators of oil field in your village/LGA/ state/zone

1. Relocation of operation bases and offices to your land. This will bring additional income to the people in terms of rent, transport, market and other related services such as logistics.

2. The rubbish CSR of menial job should be thrown away for a %cut in both revenue and employment.. I recall an oil and gas firm that gives host community 8% cut.

3.. Meet up with the required academic qualification to avoid any story

Igbo people created thread and keep answering themselves over Yoruba matter.

These Yorubas are so mighty o that they even controlled all the Oil corporations in far away SS. The Yoruba keep cornering the 13% derivative of the SS and Yorubas are the president of Nigeria to have that much power on the SS.

These Yorubas are too damn powerful. 50% of Yorubas are living in the SS and taking all their jobs such that the Yorubas should be blamed for anything that happens with a multi-national oil corporation in far away SS.

Let me walk out of this rubbish thread!
