Proper education in the north is another story on it own. I served in a northern state, I can boldly say the education system of the state I serve was zero. SS 3 student don't even know what square root is, I taught in 3 different schools, ss2 and 3 physic, they were all thesame. At a time I stop teaching them physic, I started teaching them basic mathematics but it was still a problem, most of them don't even understand English. Even their principal and teachers aren't qualify, Imagine a school principal cannot write formal letter, English teacher using hausa to teach English, the only subject they do well is religious studies.
I know education in Nigeria is poor generally but most northern state still have a long way to go.

If you’ve ever been to the North, you’ll wonder where these kids come from. In Katsina for example, they are in all the areas of the state capital, there is no single place you’ll go in Katsina town where you won’t find these kids. As early as 7am, they’ll come to your gate and start begging for alms/food, sometimes people put remnants by their gates/doorsteps so when these kids come they just pick em up for meal.

They are also always around anywhere food is sold, roadside food vendors, parks food vendors and even hang around some eateries, old and young, (young most populous). They walk around aimlessly with their bowls in their hands, it will surprise you that those bowls were donated to them by some rich fellow. I vividly remember in Daura sometimes last year during the Ramadan period, a rich man distributed brand new begging bowls to a number of almajiris in Daura town and it was tagged as helping the poor. I was like what the heck? You’re only encouraging these kids to beg on.

What I noticed about this almajirinci system is that it will be a very difficult trend to end anytime soon. An average rich Northerner (male or female) love to be paid obeisance. They enjoy it when they’re greeted “Rankadede”, who else will roll on the floor and bow to greet them if not the large population of the poor/almajiri. The North can only progress if their people/elites take the bull by the horn and make moves to end this. But will they? I seriously don’t think they will want to, these guys add a large chunk of numbers to their votes.

What the North needs is serious educational reforms, both islamic and western. All what they practice and tag as being Islamic are not true. Saudi Arabia is an Islamic state and I’ve never heard of Almajiri/Almuajirun (Arabic interpretation) taking place over there as it is done here.

Ordinary kiosk and store wey men dey build for their wife for here, is men use to hustle in the north, their wife go dey house, then in the evening some kind young single girls go come out come sell food.

The market sef is dominated by hausa men and ibo woman. Hausa don't allow their women sell or go out. Their wife need to take permission to go out.

I don't know if it's like this everywhere in the North, but the local government I serve was like this.

Some times I go just dey vex, u can't go outside and see fine girls. Men everywhere with some scary looking girls n old women.

The issue of the almajiris is not about culture but rather poverty. If not, why are the children of Buhari and other wealthy hausas not on the streets?

This people in the guise of Religion (Islam to be precise) take wives and bear children that they cannot cater for. if it is a boy, at a tender age, they will send him out of the house to become an almajiri all in the name of culture. But if it is girl then they marry her off at the age of 13(in most cases).

I think it is high time the sharia court re-visit this islamic doctrine that say a man can marry of to four wives because that is certainly not for just any kind of man.

No sensible Nigerian should believe el-rufai n other northern hypocrites governors on the Almajiri system. They created d system for political advantage and will still need it in d future to succeed.

Is it Ganduje, Shakarua, kwankwaso, Rimi,Sarduna etc. That has been sponsoring mass wedding for poor people that can't even feed themselves let alone children?

Any correct headed leader knows that poor people need empowerment/education and not marriage.

Elrufai n Sanusi that have 4 wives each, even marrying teenagers at old age. They are the people you wants to believe on their opinion about almajiri?

U think child training is about how much you have abi? With all elrufai's money, didn't you see his son bragging about raping a mother publicly, and his own mother supported him. Simple sense, child training involves, character, values, integrity, resources and a manageable size for each man n woman.

There's something fundamentally crooked with the mentality of Nigerian northern muslims. How a living human will wilfully reject his offspring for any reason is beyond my imagination. They even excuse it by the Quran as though most arabs with one wife n 3children don't know Allah.

Even Murtalla, Ibb, Abacha, Abdusalami and Buhari who had small families cannot speak against or fight this nuisance. Look at how they finished SLS for confronting this system.
