I won't tell you not to close any thread, you own this forum but consider this, sofascore now has a Nigeria community where people can interact also come on Twitter Ng where betting is bigger than the whole nairaland business thread. You will lose traffic besides we all know nairaland is just a small twitter for Nigeria that most news that trends here are all happenings from Twitter. So your loss Bro lipsrsealed
I never knew you're intelligent. cheesy Well written.

I dare Him to close down the threads. Why would any sane man sat down to type (according to you) a constructive opinion on how another man should handle his business??

Ask lots of users what's going on in FP they don't know cuz most of them already bookmarked those thread(s). Some are even addicted to it. Maybe seun should close the thread and set them free.

Someone already mentioned some alternatives. If you know you know.

Peace!
cheesy There was a time I don't even scroll down. I just log in & go straight to the business section. 99% of the most active users on that betting thread don't comment anywhere else. In fact it's even weird whenever I see them commenting somewhere else. cheesy

I think to understand anyone's actions, it is important to understand the person and their intentions.

My role is not to drive traffic to Nairaland or to do anything related to generating revenue. That is for Nairaland's owner to work out with his marketing team.

My role is to maintain quality and ensure that the few posts here are quality posts that actually benefit people in one way or the other. And I am happy to do this voluntarily as long as it contributes towards helping people.

You can check my profile again to see if my actions show any evidence that this is true. Highlight here any posts that do not add value, instead they are for me to make my money and I will ban myself.

Kindly unban the binary options thread. You can not ban it and leave others... That's partiality.

Go on bros. But whichever way, give sport betting a chance. Let those who play it do it without restriction here.

Hello Seun, been a while.

While there is the diceyness of what you believe in about those topics, you are also aware that they are also popular especially at another recession time like this and everyone is looking for how to make fast money while not trying out online scam alternatives. You may look at a way forward by

1. Creating your freelance job site so that those looking for online job and pay services may make good use of it. You will have to reach out to the external clientele to make it attractive.

2. Make a Risky Businesses Sub Category under the business category and have a sticky thread detailing that all businesses in that category are labelled high risk and those involved tend to lose their money. This however will make it grow but to avoid scammers influxing, it has to be highly moderated and all would be advertisers have to do a KYC registration and only use the banners to advertise themselves.

3. Keep the existing structure of one major thread for the related topic barring all else.

This is one of the most constructive criticisms I've seen on this thread. This is what they should teach in schools! Thank you for taking the time to not just express your emotions but going that difficult step further to suggest solutions. If everyone thought like you, Nigeria would be a different place!

Yw naijacutee, raising complaints is quite easy, creating alternative solutions is waaay better.

While I support giving room for the aforementioned businesses to flourish, it still remains the prerogative of the site administration to let them stay or not using factors like continued interests, understanding of the users of what they are into, scam complaints among others.

At the end, I hope you guys made the best decisions for all.

Wishing you well - Teemy

You really should, as I think my job here in driving the conversation is done. I feel that we have a range of people have expressed their opinions, and there seems to be a strong affinity for the threads even though only 1 or 2 people were in favour of closing the threads.

I guess while they do not contribute positively to the morals of any society, casinos, recreational marijuana, cigarette sellers and strip clubs are legalised for a reason - they fulfill a need. No one can instruct people what to need.

Lolx, you just described me.

I recently joined NL just to contribute and learn on the forex thread, I've spent 3days on here but yet to comment on any other thread.

@Seun and @Naijacutee ,

If you scrap the forex thread, I will scrap my account and move on.

With all due respect [even though you disrespect my sole source of income by liking what I do to the perceived immoralities in our society], have you taken out the least bit of time to know the intricacies of forex trading?

It brings me dejection to think that a moderator in the business section [voluntarily or by commission] would classify Forex trading with the aforementioned. I admire that You've on several instances admonished individuals to do research, can you also do same on the FTA and Forex trading in general?

Thank you Ma.
naijacutee:
How do you verify the authenticity of the drugs? Whom do you hold responsible if the fake drugs cost someone's life?
naijacutee:
Lots of good advice here.
Some things I feel are worth thinking about before plunging into a buka business.
naijacutee:
This is why I think it would also be beneficial to educate oneself on the business side of things.

Thank you for your very balanced, and research-backed point. I see your point about me doing my research, but the thing is that I'm a only a volunteer mod.

I only carry out what the owner of the site does, and try to do a decent job of it. My personal feelings about Forex do not come into play here, as my intention for starting this thread was to give people a place to air their opinions in one place for the owner of the site to see.

The alternative as per the rules would be to shut down the threads without explanation in accordance with NL rules. And Seun, the site owner has very good reasons for making these rules . People also have very good reasons for wanting the threads open. This is to find out where everyone can meetm
