I have 2 Corolla at home same generation, 1 gives trouble regularly the other has been peaceful throughout.

from my research the peaceful one is from Canada and it's a clean title, the troublesome one is from US and salvaged. if I didn't know who and only bought the troublesome one won't I demonize corolla?

You had a bad experience with something doesn't make it bad. The same explorer you are afraid of I know people who use it and are happy and the truck variant (Explorer sport Trac) was personally used by a family friend for 5 years

And explorer happened to magically find it's way into the top twenty worst cars of all time? Be reasonable!

@ op, Americans could be buying Ford cars because of cost of gas and patriotism, I have used a ford edge 2008.
Ford vehicles abhors tampering with the electrical system,to avoid that you will own a good scanner.
Most of the parts are scarce and pricey. The fuel consumption was above a 2008 Lexus Rx350. The AC system and suspension are top notch, the vehicle requires factory specified maintenance with OEM Fluids, engine oil, break fluid, transmission oil.
If properly taken care of ,it will serve you well.
If you are considering fuel consumption,it's a V6 and will consume more,go for a 4 cylinder vehicle.

I guess that's another way to look at it, mine was from the US also, and i cant say if it was salvage since i didn't do an autocheck online before purchase, i just went with my benz mechanic then who checked it out.

What is the mechanic experience like, are they readily available?

The civic is wonderful because i have a neighbor who owns it and no complain from him whatsoever, though the car is small in my opinion and too low. The c class is also good and fuel efficient and cheap to maintain( the w202),it has a high ground clearance and the interior has a bigger interior to the civic, the engine is also more powerful.
i dont know much about the honda accord eod but its common so i guess it must be cheap to maintain.
Which class is the W202 and the year?

Don't believe that rubbish. He knows he's wrong but pride won't let him succumb to domination. That car is a time bomb

grin grin grin

another kid here with emojis......thank you sir grin

op,do not buy a used explorer......u dont knw why owner wants to sell.

if u repair ur transmission twice, theres a high chance the electrics have been tampered with while trying to package it for u.so when you eventually buy a replacement, u will still keep having issues(just an opinion)

away from that, the explorer is not very reliable.it will serve, but u will visit ur mecho well well.if u really like it and its ur choice,u might not mind when the problems starts surfacing

if I see a cheap one I will buy...that's me.certain things dont bother me as such

it's a corolla I can never buy.......if e like make e reliable pass all the car for the world,I no dey buy corolla. angry

The W202 Is A Generation Of C Class Benz That Ran From 1994 or 5 till 2000 am not exactly sure when it ended. It Comes In Various Engine Size From The C180 To The C280 Which Uses A V6 12plugs Engine. They Are All Fuel Efficient Even The V6 Variants And Not Too Costly To Maintain. Just Go With A Competent Mech And Test Drive The Car, Its Not Meant To Jerk When Changing Gear.

Thought I Was The Only One Who Disliked That Car. The Only Thing I Envy About The Car Is The Fact That Everyone That I Pass Seems To Have A Functional A.C System. So I Guess Their A.c System Is Top Notch

I'm actually interested in the sport Trac 07-09 to be precise. Not common here in the east. Would love to hear from the users. Been eyeing the limited edition.

Thanks a lot, I think I will settle for the C class. Hopefully tomorrow. But if there is a contrary view or further advise it's highly welcome please as I'm just about to venture into this without any idea.

That was the beginning of your problems... a Benz mech shouldn't have checked it out for you

An expensive truck though. Not bad if we'll maintained, it is a luxurious truck.
