On Friday, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, announced that the Federal Government would commence the feeding of 3.1 million school children at home from Monday. The minister mentioned this while distributing palliatives to people with special needs, at Karamajiji community in Abuja. She mentioned that the goodwill will commence with those in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Lagos, and Kano States. In March this year, the government shut down schools, churches, and other businesses as a measure to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the country. According to her, the pandemic would not obstruct the feeding programme , explaining that this time the strategy would be to give food commodities to every child to enable parents to prepare for them. She said: “By this week we are going to start off in the FCT, Lagos, Ogun and Kano States. We have done all the processes and by early next week we are going to start. The model is to give dry food ration to households where these children reside. We are reaching out to 3.2 million households.” Speaking on the items distributed such as rice, wrappers, salt, seasoning cubes groundnut oil, and Macaroni, she appealed to them to manage as government would do more and replicate same in all the states. “They should bear with us based on what we have given to them. They should use it judiciously and also look forward to how we are going to support them. These items are going to 450 households numbering over 1800 individuals. We will make sure that all the palliatives we will take to the states are distributed to this particular group of persons.” She said. Well, this is one area I totally disagree with the present administration. To me, the school feeding programme is just a conduit for siphoning money from the coffers. There is nothing like school children feeding. It sounds too crapy and useless. To expose this sham, they are still talking about it even when school children are at home in their parents houses. So, how will you now be feeding them in their houses? Taking food to them at home? And what exactly is the purpose of feeding school children? Viewing it from its foundation, you will notice this recent move runs in direct conflict with the founding mandate. Generally, school children feeding is just a wide conduit pipe for draining the already lean govt purse. Objectivity demands this be stopped forthwith. Imho though. ![]() |

They better be ready to feed their parents, siblings, neighbors and the area boys alongside the audio school children. I repeat . The NASS and other well meaning Nigerians should prevail on this government from embarking on this blatant waste of scarce resources. |

Would they be serving cooked meals to children or be giving food stuff for parents to cook? Either way I would advice accept no food from our WHO / Bill Gates -run government , could another avenue for poisoning. |

Simplyleo:How many people will have to point out how ridiculous this is before the government scraps it. Even if it's not scam... which it is. How can a sane person propose to feed school children at home. Their parents are hungry, thier neighbors are hungry, the whole community is hungry..... So they will carry a plate of food searching for one child... passing several houses with hungry children. Everyday? Preposterous! |
