This article will cover the 10 most powerful weapon systems used by the Indian Armed Forces. It is interesting to note that even though most of the weapons in the list are foreign supplied, the Indians have modified many of them to suit their requirements. They are known for purchasing well-known platforms and integrating them with subsystems from around the world to create a lethal system which would turn out better than the original. This makes them a force to reckon with. The order of weapons in the article is entirely based on my analysis and opinion. I haven’t included strategic nuclear weapons and their delivery platforms. 10. Pinaka MLRS



Pinaka was designed to replace the BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher systems of the Indian Army. It is a multifaceted system integrating high energy propulsion, sub-munition warheads, servo-controlled launcher configuration and fire control computer.

The Pinaka system is based on the 8×8 vehicle. Each battery is composed of six launcher vehicles, six loader-cum replenishment vehicles and two command post vehicles. Each launcher vehicle carries two pods, housing a total of 12 rockets.

Each Pinaka rocket is capable of carrying a 100kg payload for a range of 40km. A single Pinaka battery can neutralise a surface area of 700m x 500m. The system can engage targets with a circular error probability (CEP) of one to two percent of range.

9. PAD/ AAD Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Systematic



New Delhi: India’s indigenous Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) programme is complete, and the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) are now working on a proposal to seek the government’s nod to install the missile shield for the national capital, ThePrint has learnt.

The BMD, along with the Russian S-400 Triumf air defence system , aims to secure the country from all kinds of incoming missiles, including nuclear, and flying objects.

“The BMD programme has been completed. All tests carried so far have been successful, including the radars and missiles. The IAF, which is responsible for the country’s air defence, and the DRDO, which has developed the system, will now move a joint proposal for the government’s clearance,” a top government official told ThePrint.

The official, however, didn’t reveal much about other details of the programme.

The successful test of the anti-satellite (A-SAT) missile last March was a big boost to the BMD programme. India’s leap in space with the A-SAT test is especially significant because inter-continental ballistic missiles like China’s Dongfeng series travel through space before re-entering Earth’s atmosphere to hit the target.

8. NaMiCa (Nag Missile Carrier)



NEW DELHI: Moving closer toward the induction of the Nag anti-tank guided missiles into the Army, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO ) on Sunday carried out three successful test firings of the missiles in the

Pokhran firing ranges.

"The missiles were test-fired during both day and night on Sunday during the trials. All three tests were successful," DRDO officials said.

Government sources said the missile is in the final stages of being inducted into the Army which will use it by mounting them on the modified armoured vehicles.

The Defence Acquisition Council has last year approved the procurement of DRDO's designed and developed NAG Missile System (NAMIS) at the cost of Rs 524 crore.

The system includes a third generation Anti-Tank Guided Missile, the NAG, along with the Missile Carrier Vehicle (NAMICA). The NAG missile is a third generation anti-tank guided missile, which has top attack capabilities that can effectively engage and destroy all known enemy tanks during day and night.

The successful induction of the NAG missile into the Army is expected to give a quantum boost to the Army's capability against enemy armour.

The Army and DRDO are supposed to carry out more tests of the missiles on Monday also to further validate the missile's capabilities.

Nag was one of the first five strategic missiles planned to be developed under the Integrated Missile Development Programme initiated in the 1980s.

The other missiles developed under the project include the Agni, Prithvi and Akash and all three of them have been successfully developed and inducted into the armed forces.

The internet is your friend. Pakistan has been aggressive and Nuclear capabilities is part of warfare and don't tell me it's bacause of their nuclear capabilities.

Mr man, you're joking. India has the same nuclear capabilities as Pak, India has ballistic missiles that work, Pakistan's experiment fail and is mostly backed by Chinese tech. India will likely survive a nuclear war because of landmass while Pakistan will be gone too soon. India has several times the population of Pakistan.
If you're comparing North Korea and Pak/India then it goes to show your ignorance. In conventional non-nuclear warfare North Korea is Ill equipped to fight South Korea. If South Korea decides to develop nuclear weapons, then sure as hell the tables are flipped because North Korea is technically behind the South and the rest of the world.
