This scheme is likely meant for the rural dwellers, children must eat na to prevent stunted growth.What the government need do is provide provision once in a month to the kids family rather than saying the want to cook everyday,the logistic sef would pass the cost of the food.

One problem with this country and her useless, thieving leaders is that they never have any plan for some form of mid-term evaluation/review to verify that the ill expected to be cured by some initiative, policy or program that has been conceived and executed is actually addresed. Targets/milestones are not set so there is nothing to work towards or measure against.

This is what has played our with the quota system in the education sector ostensibly set up to close the gaps between educationally-disadvantaged states and others not so disadvantaged. It is not supposed to be a lifetime policy but decades later, the gap has widened even more and nothing has been done to address the deliberately unfair practice that pulls others down so those that refuse to work can meet up.

Now, this school feeding program rears its ugly head up. First, socialist policies like this are designed to fail in an unregulated society like ours where there is no structure or reliable database with biting poverty! It is supposed to ramp up school attendance and reduce the number of out-of-school children. However, as clearly indicated the OP, the situation has worsened. Before the program, statistics for Nigeria recorded over 10m children out of school. Now, how many years after, the number of children our of school has almost doubled with 16m + children recorded to be out of school. What then is the justification for keeping it running and even deciding to supposedly feed children who are compulsorily at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic?

What is the lifespan of this school feeding business or is it meant to last forever? Shameless country!

If the parents are gainfully employed in good jobs by the government or empowered to start a trade or business of their own they can afford to feed their children with good food.
