After reading your reply last month, I went ahead to skill up. I'm developing myself interns of digital skill and by the end of this pandemic I will come out a better and developed girl. Thank you very much for putting this out here. PS: what small NGO'S can I apply for? I really don't care about the pay, I just want experience. Expecially in the area of Digital health/Monitoring and evaluation. I look forward to hearing from you. Npower: |

| Re: Here Is Why New Applicants Don't Get NGO Jobs Often by Girlbestfriend(f): 3:52pm On May 19, 2020 |
Richdee1:Data analysis. SQL for data analysis to be precise. I also learnt how to use Google spreadsheet.. If you're so interested, just Google "Google digital skill Africa" and pick whatever interest you. But some courses are not free__I initially wanted "Data science" I found out I had to pay to acquire that skill(I'm broke) so, I dropped it. Shalom |

Girlbestfriend:I'm kinda confused! The goggle spreadsheet you learnt is it with the SQL for Data analysis or you learnt it separately?? |

AbdulAkpan:I remember reading this thread last year. I just came back to thank everyone. I'm really grateful for the eye-opening opportunity. After reading this thread, I took it upon myself to go looking for smaller NGO openings in my community, I finally got an offer June last year to volunteer under a PEPFAR supported facility__from there, I went ahead to volunteer as a community counselor/tester for FHI 360(it was a paid position)__after the contract ended, I got an opportunity to volunteer as a data entry officer for FHI ally here in my state...why am I saying this? This thread opened my eyes to the need of starting small. while starting small, I have been able to amass a whole lot of experience/skills ranging from adherence counseling (which I got from my case identification days), data collection, data collation, data entry, Data quality assessment, data triangulation, validation, problem solving etc....I haven't gotten to where I wanna be but I know with consistency I will be there....thank you @NigerianMan __ thank you @Npower and a very big thank you to the moderation of this thread. |
