In no way am I endorsing corruption but then this is a case of pot calling kettle black. Imagine the atrocities being perpetrated by these same politicians with no one to bring them to book now forming anti-corruption agents. In terms of corrupt and dirty practices, Lecturers are learning when compared to politicians cheesy

For the reason you stated above, government should continue paying dead staff and stop deducting taxes from university lecturers. Go over what you typed again and convince me why I should not request for your medical certificate of mental fitness.
You took these words from my mouth fingers. Was about quoting him for same reason, then I saw this.

Besides, he left the topic of the thread and started typing gibberish about politicians bla bla bla. Imagine, organisations using dead people to collect salaries for jobs not done. The same jobs youths are roaming the streets in search of.

I didn't bother checking his past comments, but pretty sure he must be among noisemakers talking about lack of jobs for Nigerian youths.

Lol. I blame your parents for skipping that part where they were supposed to teach you courtesy. If they had done their bit , you wouldn't be distracting your generations unborn on a faceless forum grin . Guess your education hasn't taught you that you could say your mind or argue a point without hurling unnecessary insults . And for the record, you're the fool here, you should probably be inducted into the hall of fame as the greatest fool to have existed since the advent of man cheesy

ASUU needs to respond to these allegations.

So it's ASUU that's in charge of salaries?

FG will alaways have an agreement with ASSU and suddenly wish to jettison it, why? They continually try to make ASSU memebers look bad , we shouldn't forget it is the same neglect the health system suffered and we are here today. Universities have always been autonomously ran , hence the reason for governing councils. Same reason why FG pay them to settle their schedules. Now if FG wishes to enroll them on IPPIS don't you need to register them duly on the platform? Salaries are being paid to staff without any form of due registration done and people are being omitted from getting due salaries with discrepancies of payments seen all over the place. The claim is that its due to taxes that were never there? Would anyone actually believe that ASSU members were not paying pension dues? Or that PAYE was under paid without the OAGF office realising this over the years? These are no attacks to FG , they didn't even ask anyone to register for the housing scheme before deduction for such an item was done on members, who are they providing homes or amenities? how long would we continue to turn blind eyes to acts of impunities' by FG , if they had duly register people with IPPIS would they be paying dead lecturers? At the end of the day FG has never been about doing the right thing if not there agreement with ASSU dates back to 2009 but I guess these wont be our concern , its about calling ASSU thieves and they are stealing from us all. My perspective this is an act of cheap blackmail with that article the government is being robbed everday by politicians and FG is not willing to stop leakages in the name of school feeding and palliative but best to distract us with this propaganda.

This govt is full of lies and propaganda. When did lecturers start preparing salaries. It's non academic staff like bursar, accountant that prepare salaries and not ASUU. If the govt really want to stop corruption they should send auditors to the universities occasionally and not keep peddling propaganda just to discredit ASUU.
Re: Universities Presenting Names Of Dead Staff To Collect Salaries, FG Alleges by edakedkay: 11:13pm On May 19, 2020
FG (IPPIS, OAGF), you lot should note that lecturers are not the only component of universities. Their job description doesn't include preparation of payroll. You should hold the VCs and bursars responsible for any discrepancy in payroll preparation. To the best of my knowledge, ASUU isn't SSANU or NASU.
If IPPIS had nothing up its sleeves, it would have deployed "other means" of paying lecturers as instructed by the president instead of enrolling the lecturers from the back door.
They were just beating about the bush when they claimed to have held back their salaries on the grounds that they were not enrolled.
No data not biometric capturing was done yet they were able to pay them their 2 months salaries. Who are they trying to fool?
If they had not gone ahead to get lecturers enrolled without their consent, they would have been able identify retired and dead lecturers when biometric capturing would have been done whenever this hullabaloo ends with ASUU embracing IPPIS.
I recently saw the template used by IPPIS to pay lecturers their unjustly withheld wages. In my mind, I wept. Imagine a long standing professor being paid less than 400k as monthly salary after about 30 years of service. A lecturer 2 (B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D in bag) being paid 130k after putting in 9 years yet other MDAs who do little or nothing (yes nothing) are better paid with even employed fresh graduate earning the 6 months equivalent of a L2 salary in just one month. Mind you lecturers have to go for conferences (local and international), seminars, conduct researches and subsequently publish their findings in reputable international (as much as $1000) and local journals. Where do you think they get monies for these? 80% of the time from their abysmally poor salaries. From this same paltry salary, they have to acquire the required tools of the job (laptops, textbooks, data for internet) personally. Some even go ahead to create their individual laboratories.
In the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic, I recently read where ASUU members are asked why they haven't been able to conduct researches and come up with a cure for Corona. Conduct researches for which labs and with which money abeg? All things being fair and equal, this should have been the case but no it isn't. Rather ASUU is always is tagged as being overly corrupt and always demanding for funds. You see how COVID-19 has exposed the extreme rut in the medical sector, e go soon be for the educational sector.
Truth is lecturers live on loans. Yes, you heard that right. The houses and cars most of them own were gotten from loans. From all I've read recently so far, lecturers salary was last increased 11 years ago and implemented 9 years ago. Whereas in other MDAs absolutely everything is provide for them to get their jobs done. Employers are sent on staff development. All local and international courses, conferences, seminars etc are paid for from the government's coffers either before they embark on these or on their return. Allowances are implemented and paid as and when due. This is not the case for lecturers. Even teachers in federal government secondary schools are better paid than most university teachers.
Regardless of the reasons for which ASUU's recent face-off with the FG is (this isn't about IPPIS. IPPIS is just a propaganda in my opinion), I think ASUU should rather be demanding for a job commensurate salary and forget about the request for funds for revitalization of the university. They've been making this demand for over 10 years now. No be who get house go decide when to refurbish am? You see the brain drain being witnessed in the medical sector, especially in recent times, same fate awaits the educational sector in no distant future. The rich class, especially the fraudulently and politically rich ones have stashed monies away. When that no distant future happens on us, they'll send their descendants (upto their 4th generation) to go school in Canada, the UK, the US, Ghana (yes, you read right, Ghana) while you, whose present and future ASUU is fighting to sustain, will be opening gate, holding their handbags and what have you, for these foreign educated, returned to rule you Nigerians.
Is our health and education of importance in Nigeria? How can it be when there's #37b to be spent on renovating the National assembly building; 674m to be spent daily on feeding school kids who are at home; #120b to be used to import cars legislators, composed mainly of past governors who have turned the Senate and House of Reps to their retirement homes, after passing into law retirement bills that are meant to permanently keep them rich after 4-8 years of corruption ridden stewardship. Yet a professor, who puts in about 30-35 years, earns less than 400k monthly.

ASUU, should have a rethink and demand for a better welfare package. Dump the revitalization idea and allow the universities collapse. Maybe this is what they want so that when they want to allocate monies for it's rebuilding, such monies will be very well padded.

Is that why they'll make unexplained deductions from the salaries of Senior lecturers and professors up to more than 65%.
They should prepare because a showdown with ASUU is inevitable. Or no be ASUU again?

Eg all the Professors that died in Kano and after submitting it's details would be counted as university submissions too.
