This is a dumb argument. It's crass irresponsibility and sheer display of ignorance that the Kano government are coming up with this. Doesn't invalidate the fact that the lockdown was necessary during Easter.

There was no Ummrah this year, 95% sure there won't be Hajj this year. A "lesser" non obligatory Prayer like Eid is what our so called brothers would endanger the lives of others for? Like seriously? How would you enforce social distancing in the hundreds of Eid grounds on that day with the multitude of people who would attend?


Isn't this contrary to what numerous Hadiths say about conduct during a Pandemic?

Isn't protection of Life no matter the circumstances one of the cardinal points repeatedly made by the Prophet(SAW)? The prophet clearly stated in one Hadith not to place a "sick" person next to an healthy one. How would you verify who is carrying the Virus and who isn't on that day?

I think at this point the President should step in and enforce a total lockdown. Seems Ganduje is actually the stark illiterate they call him both in terms of education and religious intelligence.

Its quite unfortunate, i learnt even Sokoto state government relaxed their curfew till 10pm.

Muslims all over Nigeria will come out in mass to celebrate the Eid and nothing will happen .mind you some of them have started migrating from lagos since monday back to the North .

Please can you explain to us why Easter can't be compared to Salah?. Easter is the bedrock of Christianity. The death of Jesus Christ brought hope to Christians and humanity at large. In terms of congregating for prayers and worship, majority Christian denominations congregates for four days to celebrate Easter. From Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Sense is far from you

Religion is the greatest problem of an average poor man, especially in Africa and at best Nigeria. The first step to curtail fanaticism and extremism is to eradicate or wipe out poverty. The more people get richer they will begin to question their blind religious following.

This is true especially with Islam of Africa/Nigeria.
