Let me share a personal story.

As a little boy in primary school then I had a dream that someone was lying on me and I felt pain, I woke up and lost my walking ability. Prior to this moment my limbs were functional but afterwards I couldn't work for months I had to drop out of school and start treatment when it was clear that I couldn't do anything without support from others. My parents had to spent a lot both on medical treatment and spiritual treatment before I could regain my walking ability.

Alhamdulillah, I survived but there were others who didn't survive such attacks. So, it's either ignorance or arrogance that will make some deny the existence of evil forces that cohabit our planets. In Islamic faith it's an established fact that evil exists and there are prayers to guide against such.

The nightmare was a result of a physical sensation happening to him. He could be jejely having another dream and once his body is physically in trouble, his brain will inject it into his dream.

We have all woken up with what they call "pins and needles" eg when you sleep on your hand in a certain way and cut the blood supply, you wake up and need to spend a few minutes allowing blood to.drain inside that hand before you can use it. When that's happened to me in the past, I will just be dreaming jejely and somehow it will enter my dream that someone is pulling my hand etc.
