No need because none of these things will be done
Re: Nice To Have Nairaland Features by Nobody: 3:49pm On May 24, 2020
It seems you're trying to make it twitter 2.0.

It's a forum. Annonymity is the selling point.

Again it's a forum. Blocking or "muting" as you put it, defeats its purpose

No one is taking anonymity away. It's simply a way to get reputable people back to this forum. Also, a way to have reputable orgs disseminate reliable information.

Nairaland is generally known for its simplicity.

These features will definitely come with updates, that will make the site more data-consuming.

What? Are you serious?

2. Dark mode
There is an unofficial dark mode. Most web browsers' dark mode end up reflecting on Nairaland.

Bubbling this up again.

Change is the only thing they say is constant! Even though I agree with some folk above that some features are not necessary, say dark mode, blocking of people like someone said these people are the selling point for Nairaland, some of the most liked comments comes from bigots, and keyboard warriors.
I think changing the UI, few buttons, adding some more stylings, beautiful emojis, tags. Wouldn't cause a harm.

Nairaland Sha needs update, for the biggest forum in Nigeria it looks like something one person is managing with a free PHP forum software. I'm sure everybody has browsed through Reddit and then visits nairaland and feels like puking. It just looks so unsettling.
Nairaland doesent even have an official mobile app. Its sad Nigerians get so excited about this place

Seriously if you create something innovative, you might be onto something.

Right... Nairaland mirrors Nigeria perfectly. Crooked and stagnant with no intention to improve or innovate

True. And a large chunk of its users love it just the way it is.

It will still be simple, and it will not consume much more data than it already does. A little bit of extra data consumption shouldn't hinder a product like NL from evolving. Moreover, data is cheaper than it was 2 years ago, not to talk of 10 years ago.

Nairaland has no business of beautifying the forum. Leave it like that for the owner

I'm not sure anyone cares about the aesthetics of NL at the moment. I'm more concerned about its user experience.

Eg: There are a couple of annoying monikers that keep posting harmful things. A lot of people should be able to block them and enjoy a saner NL.

One important feature would be the collapsible (perhaps an accordion) thread - users should be able to follow conversations without having to navigate to several pages to read replies (or linked convos).

We are adults and the beauty of life is the diversity of opinions and thoughts. So any comments that doesn't suit your thought, you slide over it and walk away. Unfortunately, some of the people here that supports the bad leadership of the country only do it to attract likes and mentions. Subconsciously, they know they are jokers.

So don't take all you see people say here to heart.

This is not an issue of “taking things to heart”, it's an issue of filtering out noise from threads.
