Tithe or debt?
You receive N100 as salary with a N10 debt.
Option 1: pay Tithe first

10% of 100 = 10
100-10-10=N80 balance

Option 2: pay debt first
100-10=90
10% of 90 =9
90-9=N81 balance

Mathematically you can see which is better.

But with common sense

You pay your debt of N10 and chill with your N90.

@OP, pay off the debts you owe(Jesus said you should), Give to those to those who have none and those who ask of you(Jesus also commanded this).

In all, obey every commandment that Jesus has given you, and I don't mean you should go preach to anyone abeg. There are way too many blind preachers out there. Let God Himself lead you in what you should do.

What does pastors of nowadays do with the tithes they collect? Build schools, buy cars and private jets at the detriment of their poor members. So tell me why a normal human in his/her right senses should pay tithe before settling his/her debt? I feel tithing should be abolished sef, people should pay tithes by giving to the needy, this world will be a better place that way, instead of giving your money to thieving pastors like ..... (make I no mention names)

But pastors still make them believe that they must pay tithes or go to hell and back it up with that verse in malachi abi what do they call it.

The book of Malachi was written as a warning to the Priests who manipulated people and stole from the coffers of God. I suspect many of the pastors know this but choose to ignore it so they can continue to further their agenda, and their pockets.

Bringing a tithe / מעשר -- only applied to Jews, not to gentiles. The Christian concept of tithing bears scant resemblance to the Torah concept of מעשר / ma'asér which required that 10% of produce grown in Israel and 10% of any privately owned (by a Jew) kosher domestic farm-animals (cattle, sheep and goats) and poultry (e.g. chickens, geese etc).

The food stuff was to be given to help maintain the Levites (who did not get part of the land, but were dependent on this food to live).

Christians were NEVER commanded to separate ma'asrot (plural of ma'asér).

"The Scriptural Commandments for tithing are addressed only to Jews. The Commandment for a Jew to tithe his kosher livestock (Lev. 27:32) pertains only when there is a Holy Temple in Jerusalem where the tithed animals can be sacrificed to G-d. The Commandments for the first tithe (Num. 18:24), the second tithe (Deut. 14:22), the Levites’ tithe (Num. 18:26), the tithe for the poor (Deut. 14:28) pertain to a Jew’s agricultural products that grow within the boundaries of the Holy Land of Israel. Although Jews are always required to separate those agricultural tithes, the tithed produce is not permitted to be eaten unless there is a Holy Temple in Jerusalem." From "Ask Noah" link provided below.

Today, even though there is a modern democratic country (Israel) the land is not divided into the historical tribes so the idea of tithing produce and animals is not existent. Instead Jews donate 10% of income to charity (unless one is too poor to do so).

Judaism is founded on tz'daqah - often translated as charity but really meaning more of doing good for others (it isn't just donating a bit of money).

D'varim / Deuteronomy 15:7 "When, in a settlement in the land that G-d your L-rd is giving you, any of your brothers is poor, do not harden your heart or shut your hand against your needy brother. . . 11 The poor will never cease to exist in the land, so I am commanding you to open your hand generously to your poor and destitute brother in your land."

Tz'daqah is required of every Jew. If one is poor and needs tz'daqah it is a sin to NOT take it. Likewise if one can't afford to give money then one should give time. . . The Rambam (Maimonides) wrote that there are levels of tz'daqah from the lowest to the highest they are:

Giving begrudgingly
Giving less that you should, but giving it cheerfully.
Giving after being asked
Giving before being asked
Giving when you do not know the recipient's identity, but the recipient knows your identity
Giving when you know the recipient's identity, but the recipient doesn't know your identity
Giving when neither party knows the other's identity
Enabling the recipient to become self-reliant

There are many passages in the T'nach that tell us how important it is to bring tz'daqah -- literally "righteous deeds"; here are just a few:

עֲשֹׂה צְדָקָה וּמִשְׁפָּט נִבְחָר לַייָ מִזָּבַח׃
"Doing charitable deeds and being just is more pleasing to HaShem than sacrifices" (Mishlei / Proverbs 21:3);

...לָהֵן מַלְכָּא מִלְכִּי יִשְׁפַּר עֲלָךְ וַחֲטָאָךְ בְּצִדְקָה פְרֻק וַעֲוָיָתָךְ בְּמִחַן עֲנָיִן...
"...so, O King, let my advice be acceptable to you - redeem your sins through righteousness and charitable deeds to the poor and your wrongdoings will be replaced with tranquility..." (Daniyyel / Daniel 4:24);

...כִּי חֶסֶד חָפַצְתִּי וְלֹא זָבַח...
"...I delight in kindness rather than sacrifices..." (Hoshé'a / Hosea 6:6).

It depends.

Tithe is 10% of increase however if on the way to securing the increase debt was incurred, it makes sense the debt be paid off as well as the tithe but before the tithe.

If for example, I get goods on debt to sell for example, my increase will be total revenue minus cost of goods and expenses incurred in selling the good. With this formulae it is impossible to calculate increase without debt subtraction and thus payment of debt comes before calculation of actual increase. Debt isn't increase.

If the debt in question was incurred to cover personal cost or expenses like food, clothe, or housing, then tithe should be paid before the debt.

All what you wrote here are circumstantial. You need to know how to separate the ministry from the minister(s).

Flesh and blood couldn't have revealed this to you. That book was addressed to the levitical priests. The introductory part of each chapter in the book of Malachi unlocks who the Prohet was addressing.

But you know today, only a few Christians are like Bereans.

......to see Jesus Christ, you would need to remove the veil of Moses covering your mind. 2Cor 3v15
