This allegations are in bad faith. If you ever had an opportunity to work with regional organizations, you will be amazed at how Nigeria as a whole are not just marginalized, but seriously maltreated. Nigeria been the highest donor to the afdb, to me should be properly represented. The only sin Adeshina has committed is not dancing to the tune of France, the overlords of francophone countries. If the US were downtrodden in global bodies like the UN, you all know what would happen next. Enough of the rubbish.

We are talking of violations of rules here and someone is asking if the accused stole, that is how they think. The next thing now is they will narrow it to tribe and start name calling. To them unless one steals, no error is committed . Now even if it is proven he stole they will question is it this small amount? as if they have it.

This is exactly what goes on in most Lagos based Nigerian private sector companies.

The Adesina of a guy probably thought he could export the Nigerian Brand of Business Management to the rest of the world.

If you have worked for any Nigeria so called blue chip company, you know its probably very true. Infact, the guy might not even know why what he is doing is wrong, as its the norm in Victoria Island.

That's why I can never use my money to buy shares of a Nigerian, Lagos based company.

If you recall Dominique Strass Kahn, former IMF Chief; he was accused of ethical misconduct by sexually harassing a hotel maid and he resigned. If you worked in an international organization, you'd know that ethical misconduct or condoning ethical misconduct is as terrible as financial misconduct.

This is what all these Other Africans do. They do everything within their powers to ruin Nigeria and Nigerians. Nigerians with their large hearts are also always to generous to see that the people around them hate them.
These are frivolous issues but are being weaponized by listing large numbers of issues.
The US wants him out of the organization, he has been investing in programs that will genuinely benefit Africa and Africans. These organizations are set up to keep Africans perpetually impoverished.

What is considered "watery" and commonplace in Nigerian institutions (using company funds to pay for private expenses, nepotism in recruitment processes or bypassing due process) are considered very serious crimes in other climes. Adesina is going down hard. Once the US has its eyes on you, there is no escaping it.

People think this Invictus Obi matter is a joke. It has placed a very firm spotlight on Nigerians in sensitive positions.

Nigerians are involved in the petition going by the usual construction of english language and allegations listed.

Nepotism and unethical practices are serious offence in any reputable organization. E.g. In MDCN ( Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria) going against the ethics is enough to withdraw a license of a medical doctor or suspend him.

Don't use what happens in a banana republic like Nigeria as a case study to what happens internationally especially with reputable financial institution like AFDB. That is why Nigeria is such a mess because of gross nepotism ...

All the allegations are serious, very serious. You don't run any financial organization like a family business otherwise you will employ charlatans that will cripple investments worth billions of dollars.

Have you asked yourself why many banks in Nigeria you think that are big are being bought overnight? e.g. Diamond, Oceanic...

Have you done an evaluation of all the appointments done by the world bank president? Who is the family member that Adesina appointed to AFDB? Have you read his response to the allegations? Are you aware that the ethics committee of the bank investigated all the allegations leveled against him and cleared him on all counts? Smh!

Yes, there is nepotism (connection/networking) everywhere. However, unlike in Nigeria/Nigerians, these things are subtly carried out. For example, in-house employment opportunities need to be advertised irrespective of the fact that a candidate may has already been penciled down for the advertised position. I am surprised that Akin would have allowed these lapses. Nonetheless, I hope he survives this and is re-elected. He is one Nigerian that has made us proud in recent times.

The comments from many people here is the reason why I always say that the problem of Nigeria is not just about it's leaders, APC, PDP, Buhari, etc, but also the followers/the masses.
See people jumping to support Adesina despite the weighty allegations levelled against him in an international organization, not Nigerian organization, without waiting for the independent panel to probe, investigate and present their report before taking sides.
It's the same way our people are quick to defend their kinsmen who are govt officials but were exposed in corrupt practices simply because " he is our brother".
For me, if Adesina is found culpable, he should resign & be held accountable and if otherwise, he should continue in his re-election bid.

What I understand from all these allegations is that Mr. Adesina is a lenient man.

While people are often punished for their actions, they can also be punished for their Inaction.

Additionally, he seems to be favoring Nigerians.

If he survives this (which I pray he does), it will be a big lesson.
