He was talking about his own side which is the northern area. He raised concern about Igbos dominating in northern region as at that time

You guys keep drawing me back to this issue, fine I'll explain it further.

First of all, the question the reporter asks is this; "people have said you have a sort of OBSESSION towards the IGBOS, what do have to say to that?

The sarduana's words were exactly the point i was making. Here you can see a regional leader feeling threatened because of the financial success of the igbos. His suspicion even led him to say he will prefer to hire outsiders first before considering his fellow Nigerian.

In his own words he says "if an igbo man goes to any land, he wants to monopolize everything" how else would you interpret that? It was obvious that he was scared of their success and felt threatened.

The reporter even asked him if he was aware such a stance will be damaging to the unity of the country to which he answered YES.

You guys are just twisting facts to suit your narratives. His objectives there were crystal clear.

I'm not quite sure how any of the things you've mentioned invalidates the fact that Israel was created by UN charter.
The impression One may get from your post is that the state of Israel was just handed over to Jews because of lobbying by wealthy American and European Jews, and I'm just saying that that's not exactly the case.

Anyway, it's neither here nor there.

How is it the fault of the easterners that they weren't fully educated or business inclined?

They refused to be enlightened despite the fact that the cruel pangs of colonialism didn't really affect them as much as other regions.

What the igbo have always done best is that they travel far and wide, seek out an opportunity that will benefit both you and him and make money from it.
That shouldn't make anyone scared.

The impression One may get from your post is that the state of Israel was just handed over to Jews because of lobbying by wealthy American and European Jews, and I'm just saying that that's not exactly the case.

Anyway, it's neither here nor there.

I've never implied that lobbying alone is the answer to oppression.

And I haven't also implied that wealthy Jews alone were the reason Israel was created.

The point which I'm trying to make here is that political access is strongly required to effect change...and that level of access has to be purchased...it will not be given to you on the basis of a high quality shalaye, or the loudness of your noisemaking.

To bring it back to the Israel matter, the US created Israel. Within 11 minutes of declaring themselves a state, the US officially announced recognition...making them the first country to officially recognise Israel as a state.

All of this, only 2 years after the Jewish population in central Europe was systematically destroyed.

If you read about Harry Truman and his involvement in the creation of the Jewish state, you will understand what I mean.

That's why I gave the other example of Indians and Chinese

An Indian man will move into a neighborhood, within 10 years he has brought his entire village to the hood and bought everywhere.

His son and daughter will then enter politics, and the corporate world. Go to almost any boardroom in top corporations in UK or US, you will see Indian representation.

Go to any level of government in UK or US, Indians dey there

Today in UK government, the number 2 man in the country is Indian. There isn't a black member of the UK government.

Chinese man will move to any hood, within 10 years, there's a China town. No main city anywhere in the world wey no get China town

Fam, what I'm telling you is that money talks. That's my main argument. Anything else is really superfluous and tangential to my point

Truth be told, blacks are selfish and we're more likely to try to dominate and fight each other in any given opportunity. Majority of us do things without looking at the bigger picture
People that saw the bigger picture left the white man's religion and his concept of God.

Christianity and Islam are mainly political tools of the whites and Arabs, which they use for global domination. It's purely politics, and not about salivation or any tripe they invented to pursue their selfish agenda.

Many blacks will still come to realize this important truth at one point in their life.

The truth is, the situation of the black man can be likened to an uneducated man that has gold but doesn't know its value (since he loathes seeking knowledge and regards every inexplicable things in nature with superstition).

So, the knowledgeable and wiser white man gives him something like a mirror (inferior to gold) and takes the gold from him.

The gold is our own native culture and indigenous gods, goddesses, and how our forefathers saw the concept of God Almighty. The inferior object is the foreign culture and religions (Islam and Christianity) exported to our lands via slavery, colonialism, and trade.

Many blacks watch movies, which influence their life outlook: There's a psychological effect (inferiority complex) produced in a black man's psyche when he watches his local gods and goddesses getting defeated by mentioning Jesus' or Allah's name in movies.

These are local gods and goddesses, which Yahweh and Allah have described as demons or small idols (I wonder who did the sham of categorization).

But the simple truth is, Yahweh and Allah themselves are local deities.

Any man/culture/nation that gives/imposes on you things like religion, language, and education has colonized your thinking. When a man is colonized mentally, he's a slave physically to his masters as well.

The universe is mental.

When most of us can recognize these truths, that's when the black race and Africa will start growing and developing.

When people say something is wrong with the black race, that's what is wrong (the dislike of the black man to seek knowledge and engage in scientific research).

A people should seek knowledge and be developed in thinking enough to develop their own (native) systems of language, education, and religion.

People shouldn't see this post as encouraging anyone to hate a white man or Arab. When we look at the situations of the black race today, we only have our ignorant and greedy forefathers to blame, and ourselves for not having the will and wisdom to think deep and see the bigger picture.

As the saying goes, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Africans have been fooled by whites and Arabs not less than a thousand times, and it's time for us to think deeply and stop being slaves.

Even though religions always stifle gaining knowledge and the overall development of a land/planet, it's still wiser for a person to worship his local orisha (deity) than worship the local orisha (Allah, Yahweh, or Jesus) of foreign lands.

Those foreign gods are local deities; if in doubt, check the human-like traits (such as jealousy, insecurity, anger, love for destruction, vindictiveness) of Allah or Jehovah in Qur'an or the Bible.

For me (based on my research and experience), it's wiser to regard the name of our local deities, who are our ancestors in this part of the world, with respect and reverence than worship any local deity.

And it's also wiser to discard the 2 foreign deities (who are the ancestors of foreign lands) that have colonized our lands mentally and physically.

When you worship anyone, you can't grow in wisdom and intelligence than them.

However, demonizing our local deities, like most people do, is an ill thought-out action and has bad repercussions for the people and their land (when the majority of them curse and demonize their ancestors).

When a river forgets its source, it dries up. Enough said.

Ibime:

None that matters, although each person's experience is different, for example, the prejudice in the job market experienced by a fresh African with deep African intonation can not be compared to another person with black skin who has assimilated into the culture/accent etc. I don't know if you will call this racism or rather "When in Rome, behave like the Romans". Unfortunately, many Africans never imbibed the culture and struggled in the workplace, some went home while others settled into menial jobs. For them the prejudice is real.

For highly skilled/ rare expertise like Doctors and some advanced scientists, it doesn't matter whether you assimilate or not. Hence I say in general, the Capital markets of the West do away with the racism that matters cos skills gaps must be filled whether you are black, white or yellow.

When one becomes fixated with racism, he subconsciously starts to hate the country and people he is living amongst, and that person can never do well in life. One thing my father told me as a teenager that stuck with me, he said "he who rejects the land, the land will reject him, and he who curses the land, the land will curse him", and he used this as a parable to explain the economic failure of Jamaicans/West Indians/Akatas as if to say their experiences with slavery/injustice have got them obsessed with injustices and racism to the point they are not at peace with the land and cannot aspire to prosper within it. At some point through my time in London, I found myself imbibing some of these feelings within these communities and had to make a conscious decision to ignore these feelings and start making more connections and friendships outside of our community with people who are economically empowered.

I still remember my final experience that blew away any cobwebs I had of judging people by their background. My whole life I had hated South African whites due to Apartheid and also one South African boy who had migrated to UK same time as me used to call me Kaffir in school till I busted his lip. Anytime I hear that South African accent, in my mind, I would just stay away from such a person until a South African Boer CFO hired me. At interview, once I heard the man's accent, I just wrote the job off. When I got there, no fewer than 4 or 5 colleagues were white SAFIs and they just blew away any preconceived idea I had about white South Africans. Funny enough, that guy was the best boss I ever had, highly knowledgeable without a shred of prejudice in him, only concerned with what skills you bring to the table. He still attended my wedding, and we still keep in touch to this day, even though he somehow decided to move back to South Africa in 2015, although he was meant to be moving to Germany today on Germany's last Covid repatriation flight from South Africa (his wife is German).

So, my experience with the South Africans was the last cobweb of racism that I cleared out from my mind. I find that the issue of racism is more to do with how you remove feelings of oppression from yourself, so you can go ahead and prosper in life. Where I live right now,.I think we have one black family on our street. Most of my neighbours are old white pensioners and we all get on fantastically. At the start of this Covid period, I was the one doing shopping for 3 of my neighbours until the backlog cleared from online deliveries. Even now, they still request fresh bread and fresh fruits when I hit the shops, and in turn when the local window cleaner comes to clean all of our windows, they pay for me. The thought of racism has not crossed my mind for a long time which is why I always laugh when I see people on Nairaland assuming we are suffering racism here. I don't doubt there is prejudice toward newly arrived people in the job market for example, but I must say the UK is a fantastic country.

Salient point. Although the thing about the U.K is that they're not quite as blatant as the U.S. in their own racism.

See how the English press is clearly prejudiced against Meghan Markle for no reason?

U.K racism is insidious. It is in the back talk and micro-aggresions. It is hardly ever overt except among football fans.

Racism does exist everywhere to different levels, but i don't think it is pervasive here. Most formal work settings have systems in place to combat racism, bullying e.t.c which is why when it happens it might be so subtle that you the target/victim might not even notice. Cases of overt racism usually end with the perpetrator getting reprimanded (in some cases severely).

While it is important to stand up for your rights and be vocal if you believe you are being targeted because of your skin colour, in my experience the most effective cure for racism is to be very good at whatever you do.
I have worked with a couple of exceptional African doctors (Zimbabwean Intensivist and Nigerian Prof of Medicine) and they were treated like small gods in the hospital, and just from their excellence were able to lift the profile and respect accorded Africans there.

It is important not to focus on looking for racism but to focus on being the best kind of professional you can be and representing yourself, your family, and your people in the best possible light.
Sometimes people are initially reluctant to engage an individual because of his skin colour but if you prove yourself you can break down those barriers easily.

My profession is a bit different because of the preponderance of foreign doctors. The average white guy here who is racist to the point of not wanting to be attended to by a foreign doctor or uses rude or offensive language to a foreign doctor might just be shortchanging himself.

“The second paragraph makes me really really really mad. The most effective cure of racism is so not being good at what you do. That doesn’t even solve racism in the work place if you are not vocal about it. Even being vocal does little about it. One needs to listen to people tell their story to know.

Parents are even less concerned now about racism in the workplace as to fear of being picked up or killed on the way home or few blocks from their homes . Children on the streets coming back or going to school.

So no, not standing up for your right or being vocal and just being best at what you do would not cure racism in formal work settings. You probably won’t even get promoted over a white even if you are better. A racist doesn’t change because you are the best. Blacks have to continue speaking and demanding it.

Coworkers are even killing blacks especially if they are better.“

Rioting is the language of the unheard. After decades of organizing, peacefully protesting, and trying to create change within the confines of a criminal justice system that largely forgives the slaughter of black people, I can't say I blame them.

That's why I said religions generally stifle seeking knowledge and overall development of any people/land.

Local religions are secretive and practise a number barbaric acts. Foreign religions have their weaknesses/bad sides as well.

Some examples of their bad aspects: pedophilia, violence, racism, slavery, genocide. I don't need to start mentioning any names; people can look at their religious heroes and prophets objectively and see the truth.

Just like local religions have their flaws, foreign ones do as well.

It's usually wiser to adopt a local solution to a local problem. A system of education and language should be indigenous to any people or culture.

You can't understand and speak English like an English man or an American, just like an English man can't understand and speak Yoruba (or your native tongue) like you.

For instance, most in this part of the world see science as a sham or fictional since they can't connect with scientific concepts and principles in real life.

When science is taught in a native language, one shows a deeper understanding of the concepts and can apply them. There's an overwhelming body of evidence/research in support of that fact.

When it comes science and technology, Africa has almost no contribution, only regurgitating what the slave masters have done.

The major reason is the imported systems of education, religion, and language.

If a people want to be religious, it's still wiser to go with their native religions so that they don't become slaves to foreigners in their own land.

My wife watched the video and cried. Don't be surprised if those 4 guys go Scot free.
Remember Daniel Shaver? He was unarmed crawling on the ground crying "please don't shoot me" when police shot him 5 times at near point blank range.

The officer who pulled the trigger was cleared of all wrongdoing, and the video footage of Shavers murder was not allowed at the trial.
Many police officers have been freed just like that guy. It's like the judicial system in America actually protects them.

Ibime, nihilist, afrodoc, chic2pimp, diggz, raumdeuter etc, have any of you guys abroad had personal experiences of racism? It would be nice to share with the group, don't you think?

Racism in the Uk is rather more convert than overt even at that it's nowhere as bad it is Stateside.

My own personal experience has been that of the subtle kind ie Crossing the road when they see I and my group of Black/Asian mates coming from afar though looking back at it now, it might have been because of the way we were dressed.

That of my Parents was an entirely different case altogether I must admit. They came in the 70s(I think Dad came in the Late 60s sef)so as you can Imagine they were thrown in right in the deep end when racism was truly rife. It Still did not stop them from making progress in their respective careers even though that said progress was not as forthcoming as it should have been.

Their experience I think made them ever more aspirational for their Kids. The Secondary School I attended for instance was quite mediocre to say the lest but my Parents made sure I towed the right path. I look back now and I am ever so grateful for being born into the right Household.
