Stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), especially governors elected on the party’s plat­form, are waiting directives from President Muhamma­du Buhari over the raging feud in the Edo State chapter.

The stage is set for an epic showdown between Gover­nor Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor who is seeking re-election, and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the consensus aspirant of the camp loyal to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the par­ty’s national chairman.

Both men on Wednesday obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms which will enable them take part in the prima­ries slated for June 22.

Credible sources said APC governors, under the aegis of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), had scheduled a meeting with President Buhari on Thursday night.

However, details of the meeting could not be ob­tained as at the time of going to press.

Speaking with our corre­spondent, a credible source in the party said only Pres­ident Buhari’s intervention could save the political situ­ation in Edo from getting out of hand, especially given the fact that the primary is less than a month from now.

He said: “As it stands now, all eyes are on President Bu­hari to act decisively and nip the impending crisis in the bud exactly the same way he acted in April when the national chairman was to be removed.

Many of the governors are of the belief that just as the President appealed to the gladiators to allow Osh­iomhole continue in office, he should do the same for Obaseki and Akeredolu by allowing them automatic tickets.

“Though some of the gov­ernors were not united on the issue of Oshiomhole’s re­moval, they are on the same page that both Obaseki and Akeredolu should not be de­nied automatic tickets.

They don’t want the fate that befell (Akinwunmi) Am­bode to befall one of their own again.”

Also yesterday, women from the three senatorial dis­tricts of Edo State endorsed the re-election of Governor Obaseki.

The women declared their support for the governor on Thursday during separate news conferences in Benin.

Market women from the 18 local government areas, a coalition of professional women, female teachers from all the LGAs, female leaders and members of the APC, as well as female po­litical office holders in Edo state, all stated that they were contributing their quo­ta towards the purchase of the N22.5 million expression of interest and nomination forms to enable Obaseki to have a second term.

Leader of Edo Market Women Association, Madam Blacky Ogiamen, stated that Obaseki was performing be­yond expectations.

I don't take Obaseki's side but we are all well aware of a Governor who moved legislative business to his residence in the Government House and removed the roof of the State House of Assembly.

Give better reasons why it should be POI or GO?

For the fact that, Obaseki, was no where in ACN/ APC but Oshiomole bought him to be Gov ahead of Pastor Ize Iyamu who was founding father of ACN and APC in 2014, should have been enough reason why Obaseki should have made peace with Oshiomole in the first place.

Tinubu wanted to intervene, immediately obaseki learnt about Tinubu intervention, he did a press conference shouting Edo is Not Lagos.

Dangote And Fayemi on seperate visit led oshomole to meet him obaseki he rejected because he has the ears of Abba kyari that can help him manipulate the presidency to remove osho.

How do you go around making noise, that a party chairman elected by 36 states plus Abj has been suspended by Edo state chapter of the party? The Deputy also said it on channels tv that Oshimhole should take permission from the Sitting Governor before entering the state. Both Obaseki and his Deputy forgot that they will still need Oshimhole's NWC for their second term ticket.

You have time to reply them... Obaseki refused to Inaugurate 14 HOA members even after the National Assembly ask him to do the needful.
His Deputy went to Abuja to submit petition to the IG of police to arrest Oshiomhole.
The Depty also said that Oshiomhole need to take permission from the sitting Governor anytime He's coming to Edo.
I said it the day Abba Kyari died that Obaseki is gone.... After Oshiomhole won at the Appeal court he said he has forgiven everybody but few days after Obaseki and his praise singers were everywhere shouting and abusing Oshimhole....

We were in this same Country when Obaseki's teacher and predecessor told the whole world on live camera that he wouldn't accept the results of the elections in 2012 when voting was still going on. He stated that the President was arming youths and using the security to forment trouble, bribing INEC officials etc...

A Sitting President? Will anyone try that with Buhari? Ask Fayose.

The results came out and he won a second term, he then accepted the results.
